In Disney’s defense, they probably just thought Jack Whitehall was gay. He was on the Graham Norton show saying that he was crushed that his one line as a troll in Frozen was cut from the final screening.

How does a movie about an amusement park ride have (or need) a canonically gay character?
Remember when movies/shows used to have gay characters where it wasn’t the focal point of the character and they didn’t have to beat you over the head with it? It’s almost like people don’t need to be reduced to their sexual peccadilloes.
