It will be closer than you think.

Sen. Doug Jones’ campaign released an internal poll Monday showing that the incumbent Democratic senator and Republican Senate candidate Tommy Tuberville would be in a tight head-to-head battle should Tuberville win next month’s runoff. The poll shows Tuberville slightly edging Jones 47 percent to 44 percent, but the difference is within the poll’s margin of error of 4 percent. The poll was prepared by FM3 Research. The survey of 601 likely November general election voters show a highly competitive race between incumbent Jones and Tuberville. Nine percent are still undecided.

quote:

A key factor could be Black voters. In the 2017 special election Doug Jones received 96 percent of the Black voters’ support while Republican nominee Roy Moore received less than four percent of the vote. According to the FM3 Research poll if Jones can pull a repeat performance and somehow manage to receive even 92 percent Black support in November, the race would be dead-even at 46 to 46 percent.

Doug Jones' campaign says Doug Jones will do well. Shocking.

He barely beat the cringiest candidate ever put up for national office last time.

It is y’all’s election, but from the outside it looks like Tubbberville is an opportunist who is simply taking advantage of name recognition.

For Finagle’s sake, the man has not voted in ten years, and some of you are considering making him a damned Senator,

Ryan might have jumped the shark or he just likes Sessions like some of the cucks around here not strong enough to go against the flow.

I can’t vouch for the accuracy of either of these claims, but is it possible Tuberville was registered in Kentucky in 2016? I read it on #twitter, so it must be true? Right?

“You’re gaslighting your readers, Tuberville was living in Northern Kentucky as he was Coaching in Cincinnati. Hence his Kentucky voter’s registration.”

And that same charge can be applied to Sessions. These bastards never know when to gracefully ride off into the sunset.

Look, I have no illusions about Tuberville — he is what he always has been — a traveling snake-oil salesman. On the same token, Sessions being a long-time player in this UniParty® dog and pony show does not magically cloak him in a shroud of respectability.

Beat me too it. But this is looking more and more like weak tea — the same as the charge that Tuberville abetted a rapist while he coached at Auburn.

Lying about voting for Trump in 2016 is bad. The main thing about Tubberville is that he has no track record to indicate where he is politically and in this day and age voters cannot tolerate that.

I would give him a chance if he was running for congress in my district because that is only 2 years. You cannot elect him to a 6 year term when you have no idea how he really thinks. He could be a pos Kasich republican.

Tuberville seems a bit on the shady side. Sessions will go down as most ineffective AG in history because of Russiagate but according to the letter of the law, he had no choice but to recuse himself because he had contact with Russian emissaries. Whether one agrees with the law or not, that is the way it works. Most of this board has no clue about what the law is and when recusal is required. What Sessions should have done was resign his post and allow Trump to appoint someone who wasn't compromised.

Yes. But what is often left out of the Roy Moore imbroglio is that the only reason that Moore emerged as an outsider candidate is because of the corrupt bargain made between Robert Bentley, Luther Strange and Mitch McConnell.

Republican primary voters, fed up with this corrupt horse trading, voted for Moore as a form of retribution against this back-room deal. And then the political and media establishment worked in concert to sabotage Moore’s election chances.

Now, I hold no special brief for Roy Moore and I never once voted for the man. Yet Roy Moore was destroyed solely because he posed a threat to the hegemony of the UniParty®.

About 25 years ago I helped design and build the first "modern" system for curating voter registration data from each state, matching it against the USPS Nat'l Change of Address System ("FastForward") and then selling it to campaigns for 2.5 cents/name. The resulting data was light-years better and more accurate than anything they could get from their states.

Lets say you lost a close election and need to buy a few days to determine a strategy for challenging said election. Lets convince a bunch of gullible people they voted for the wrong person by mistake! The resulting outrage will give us a few days. We'll just need a list of every registered Democrat over 60 in West Palm Beach County (heavily Jewish) who has voted in 11 of the last 12 elections (heavy frequent voters), so we can call and tell them that they voted for Pat Buchanan by mistake because of a faulty ballot design. We'll call it a "butterfly ballot". Yeah, that was my list we compiled and sold to the Gore Campaign as a rush job the day after the election. In my defense we didn't know what they were going to use it for until later that night when the lead story on all the news was how all these old people in Florida were upset about something. I walked away after that.

Since then the technology available puts that to shame. Today its correlated with mapping data and social media profiles, all the "anonymous" internet tracking info collected on you by Google, etc... Such a system is credited with Obama's 2008 victory. There's a reason campaigns rent his and Hillary's voter lists for millions of dollars a month.

The RNC and DNC spend tons each year maintaining their lists from each state. If Tuberville wasn't registered or hadn't voted - in any state - that would've been known long ago and held to be used against him at a later time.

The only reason Sessions recused himself was to maintain viability in the corrupt Washington environs. Sessions is a proven pos too.

So there are your choices Alabama: a possible pos or a known pos. Same as it ever was...

Sessions turned this nation over to Rosenstein and Mueller.

Sorry, but he will NEVER be forgiven for that.

And the Never-Trumpers won't keep Tuberville from beating Jones.
