a much better strategy would have been to have done a strategic withdrawal where the Kurds had a bit more time to negotiate a better deal with Syria and Russia

oh frick off and give it a rest. you're worse than IB freeman and china tariffs.
trump won.
no more american soldiers in that shithole country left to step on an IED and get mangled under the guise of 'muh kurd buddies'.

I’ve actually replied to you several times and you already know this from other threads. They’ve had 3 years to prepare, a year ago Syria and Russia advised the Kurds to negotiate and the Kurds declined. It even leaked out U.S advised the Kurds to negotiate with Syria and they still wouldn’t. Now they are finally doing it, a “deal” was made within a day or 2, Kurds got desperate.

So I guess that clip ABC showed of Syrian forces storming Kurdish beaches in Higgins boats was fake.

There is a video in the link in the OP where Pence describes the current situation.
Yeah - that's what I paraphrased. The article you linked claims Erdogan was begging for Trump to start peace talks and that just doesn't appear to be the case (that any reputable source is reporting, anyway).

Trump was absolutely right to withdraw troops from Syria regardless of the ramifications for the Kurds.
He should bring home the rest of our soldiers in the Middle East. Let the Arabs and the Persians fight among themselves.

It won't happen because "stop the endless wars" is a lucky, coincidental tagline rather than an actual goal. This precedes Trump and will likely follow him.

Probably so.

I still can't believe the MSM put on false footage of Syria attacks from a US gun range.

I can't wait for some Dem idiot to argue that this is horrible.

Not since Abraham Lincoln have we seen such political genius on display at the White House.

Trump didn't start the Kurdish conflict b/c that's hundreds of years old
Trump didn't get the US involved in Syria
Trump also didn't start NATO, nor did he allow Turkey in NATO
yeah other than that, completely his fault.

Turks are asking for a way out of their own invasion less than 2 days after starting, and you're griping?
To borrow a line from the movie "Patton" -
It's time to consider just how many casualties there would be if we were still crawling along that GD road.

I'm surprised they didn't try to spin it into a Turkish invasion of Kentucky.
Of course, a lot of booze is made in KY and I hear the Turks are on the fundamentalist side of Islam these days...

[quote]There is an old Kurdish saying that I am fond of quoting in times likes these and it goes like this/quote]
True Story...
Back when we had troops in Turkey (Late 50's early 60's I think...) an American serviceman had left his vehicle in a rather large parking lot and his was the only vehicle in the lot. Late that night a drunk Turk drives through this lot that is big enough to park around 100 cars and smashes into the serviceman's car. The Turkish courts found the Serviceman caused the accident basically because he could have parked in any spot but choose that one.
So yeah... The Turks kinda suck.

Good grief the progs are backing a group with 50% FGM. It also genocided all the Jews to get their property and now is doing the same to Yazidi and Christian population.
They even shelled Turkey from next to a Christian village to attempt a retaliation against Christians by Turkey.
Why in the HELL should the U.S. protect territory which has harbored a terrorist group, PKK, for 30+ years armed and funded by Russia and protected from Turkey by Syria as it made cross border terrorist raids?

Turkey rejects US call for immediate cease fire. (WSJ)
quote:
ISTANBUL—Turkey dismissed a U.S. call for an immediate cease-fire in northeast Syria, pressing ahead with its military offensive as senior Trump administration officials rushed to Ankara to try to halt fighting triggered by the withdrawal of American troops from the region.
President Trump has dispatched Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Vice President Mike Pence to the Turkish capital, where they will meet with Mr. Erdogan on Thursday to urge him to stop a weeklong military incursion in northeastern Syria.
But Mr. Erdogan said Wednesday that Turkish troops would only stop the offensive if the Kurdish militia that Ankara views as a terrorist threat drops the fight and leaves areas they control along the Turkish-Syrian border by Wednesday night.
The Trump administration is scrambling to contain the escalation of hostilities following President Trump’s Oct. 6 order to withdraw the roughly 1,000 U.S. soldiers stationed in northeastern Syria. The arrival of Messrs. Pence and Pompeo is part of Washington’s efforts to claw back control of events that have diminished the U.S.’s leverage to shape Syria’s post-conflict future and made Russian President Vladimir Putin the leading power broker.
The U.S. imposed sanctions on Turkey for launching the offensive on the Kurdish militia, a group that Washington had allied with to fight Islamic State.
After Mr. Erdogan made contradictory statements, his office clarified Wednesday that the president would meet with Messrs. Pompeo and Pence. But Mr. Erdogan criticized Washington’s efforts to mediate, in advance of the meeting.
“Honestly, I do not find it appropriate that a country like the U.S. acts as a mediator between a terrorist organization and an ally like the Turkish Republic,” Mr. Erdogan told Turkish media late Tuesday while flying back from Azerbaijan.
As it has already been pointed out, the content in the OP is misleading.

Has Turkey ceased all aggressive operations after making this request?
