Farmers get a handout/subsidy every day with Ethanol.

Only the ones who grow corn that is used for ethanol. As for the rest of American farmers the subsidies they receive is a small price to pay to ensure all Americans have access to a safe and abundant food supply.

Exactly. Let US farmers sell our crops on a free, international market. We could get real rich real quick. The ME would have all of our grain, and Americans would be looking at $10 loaves of bread.

Here's the jist of it all. Fairness. Trump is tired of, as most Americans are, China taxing us at 25% while we tax them at 10%.. Time for Even Steven and China doesn't like it. (I realize there are exceptions)

And rural areas were responsible for 22 percent of Trump's votes, but just 12 percent of Clinton's.
so Trump beat Hillary 2:1 in rural areas

look for that number to increase in Trump's favor in 2020

Farmers are used to market fluctuations and planning for the future. They are not day traders that panic at a short term cost increase.

The mentality that comes from living from one quarterly report to the next has actually inhibited a number of businesses from making moves that would increase gains in the long run.

Yes. But Romney pulled 21% of his votes from rural areas.

Trumps biggest gains were in suburban and urban areas. The rural landscape didn't change drastically from 2012 to 2016.

that's a fair point

however, that Unshakable base" they always talk about comes mostly from the rural areas; so to call that statement "fake news" is still unfair

You do realize that the trump admin has issued more than twice as many rfn waivers as Obama. How is that helping corn farmers?

I haven't gotten a dime from the govt to help my farm operation. Im also not large enough to make it through this and currently liquidating assets. If the market eventually stabilizes and it looks like I can operate again without losing money ill pick it back up

With what?

Did he find a few boxes of ObamaPhones in the attic?

Maybe some of those DNC Christmas cards which allowed foreigners to "contribute" money to the cause?

What do we export to China as far as foodstuffs other than Soybeans?

Pecans
Beef
Dairy
Chile

That is my neck of the woods. Pecans are the ones taking the biggest hit directly related to China.

The farmers I know are not happy about it but they have dealt with market fluctuations their entire lives.

They also don't seem to be inclined to vote for a socialist over Trump because of a few down years.

Exit poll data said 25 percent of Trump's supporters said they live in cities of more than 50,000 residents.

Who was conducting these polls? Did they really ask voters coming out of their polling place what city they lived in? Was that not obvious based on where said polling place was?

We could stop using corn for ethanol and just use it in Alabama since we just allowed hunting over bait.

We gonna cause a corn shortage.
