I feel the same way.

Do you remember when Bush told us to carry on shopping?

People are usually willing and happy to make sacrifices for things that matter.

And for every one of these anecdotes, there's one that is just the opposite
i'm pretty sure this is not true and i'm also pretty sure you would be unable to substantiate your assertion

I don't think losing any percentage of that vote bodes well for trump
good thing they appear to be willing to take a hit for the good of the country which means they are supporting trump despite the policy affecting their wallet

the idea that Trump won because of a major surge in rural support may not hold up
the maps that i have seen suggest this is completely false

Very few counties in the swing states (WI, MI, PA, OH, NC, FL) flipped to Trump in 2016
"few" is subjective. "enough" is what happened

Trumps biggest gains
what do you mean by "gains"? it was his first election. there was no prior election to compare it to

The rural landscape didn't change drastically from 2012 to 2016
trump won a surprising number of female and hispanic votes so, i'm not sure what you mean by "drastically" because that was a huge surprise

Take that welfare away from them and it would get ugly
the eternal "what if" from libs.

farmers know this is a temporary trade war. taking away the welfare means the us is probably in a more advantageous trading situation internationally. but whatever you do, don't mention that

you can link a million anecdotes but it wouldn't help you refute the fact that the economy is doing well despite the trade war so, checkmate

Ask the farmers how their economy is doing

Good thing we're about to line their pockets with more "aid"

uh, it's great. what kind of stupid comment is that. "their" economy is the us economy.

as i've said many times, there was pain over the trade imbalance already and i think reasonable, well informed people know this. they're glad that someone is FINALLY addressing it. i'm sorry this doesn't square with your political persuasion

Absolutely, every single one

Except the ones who aren't happy at all, and think the policies that are hurting their bottom line are bad

Figured the context was clear...Trump's biggest gains when compared to Romney in 2012.
quote:

trump won a surprising number of female and hispanic votes so, i'm not sure what you mean by "drastically" because that was a huge surprise

Again. The context was centered on the comparison between Romney (21% rural votes) vs. Trump (22% rural). Thus, the rural landscape didn't change drastically for the republican candidate.

He's bribing them so they are not ruined by his trade war.

If the "bribes" are subsidies funded with tariff revenue and the net result is a more favorable trade deal with China, what negative was there to the strategy?

If you disagree with this strategy, how would you negotiate with China?

link? besides, what difference does it make anyway. fact 1 - trump is trying to address ip theft by a military adversary. fact 2 - the economy is not suffering despite the trade war. those two facts mean that everything ib and npc90 say is irrelevant. 90 is more concerned about the price of washing machines than national security and ib won't take my calls
