Trump screeches about "socialism" while engaging in it himself for political ends. $16 billion in subsidies to the farmers who have been severely hurt by his trade war with China ain't nothing but "socialism," I hate to tell that moron. And this, when he's running $1 trillion budget deficits. Strange how the federal budget deficit and national debt are only a problem when a Republican isn't in the WH (congrats Trumpees on your rank hypocrisy). Trade tariffs, massive subsidies and huge federal budget deficits - this is the TRUMP brand of "capitalism."

Trump's subsidies to farmers

NO intelligent response on Trump's obvious engagement in socialism?

Thought so, frat-boy.

That is pretty rich. The dems won’t even engage in anything with the president. I wish the deficit was coming down but he can’t do it by himself. Everything he cut back of course would overly effect people of color or some minority

Well shite, what should we do? Should we vote in those fiscally responsible democrats who support a more purnform of capitalism...not to mention baby killing and authoritarian rule?

Any true conservative is worried about the debt no matter who's in office. I support Trump, but am deeply unsettled by the debt being incurred by his administration. And the purposed 2 trillion infrastructure deal is inane.

You use a premise that we are in a perfectly capitalistic system and Trump is introducing socialism. That is a silly premise. What responses would you like to such a ridiculous premise?

Which private companies has Trump nationalized? If you want honest debate, perhaps start by educating yourself.

Hopefully the extra subsidies are temporary and the deficit is a problem. Trump won't cut spending enough. Now what?

I believe thats over 10 years and its proposed as a split between fed/state/local/private.

I doubt its going to go through because Pelosi/Schumer see it as pork for the unions and local cronies. Like the billion and a half spent per mile for the subway in NYC or the billions overspent and 10 years behind schedule bullet train.

Meanwhile bridges fall apart and Cali has delayed for decades retention of runoff spring waters or repairs for dams and roads. NY/NJ one big pothole, etc.

I certainly wish Trump was more of a free market libertarian. However, I also wish you knew what socialism means.

Good point,

Let's correct this by getting Trump out, and Bernie in.

I just wish Trumpkins would actually be consistent with their arguments. I have been assured by tons of posters on this board that tariffs don’t affect anyone and aren’t even noticeable.

And yet, somehow the farmers (a big voting block) need welfare. Oh and the trump admin is having to grant tariff waivers to businesses that don’t have alternative suppliers to China.

I mean, there are pros and cons to the tariff strategy. I’m not debating that right now. I’m really just tired of hearing completely inconsistent arguments.

Same for the word socialism. Anything related to government spending is labeled as socialism except for trump’s shite. I know what socialism means. It’s just that there is no consistency with how the term is applied by Republicans.

That’s not socialism.

I don’t agree with it long term but it’s not socialism.
