Dems say it's a no starter...

GOP just laughs.

quote:

President Trump will unveil his fiscal 2020 budget request to Congress on Monday which calls for $2.7 trillion in spending cuts and balances in 15 years, according to the White House budget office.

The budget from the White House is the first the president will send to a divided Congress, and the proposal is likely to face fierce opposition from the new Democrat-controlled House.

Budget Director Russ Vought said in a statement. “The budget that we have presented to Congress and the American people, ‘A Budget for a Better America,’ embodies fiscal responsibility, and takes aim at Washington’s waste, fraud, and abuse.”

The 2020 budget, Vought added, “will balance in 15 years, end runaway spending, and secure prosperity for future generations.”

-The budget would increase military spending by 4.7%, up to $750 billion, primarily set to be spent on the "strategic" rivalry with Russia and China. It also mentions countering North Korea and Iran.

-Foreign aid will be reduced by $13 billion

-The proposed budget also aims to cut spending on "Obamacare" and Medicaid. The latter will be limited to helping low-income citizens and the total amount of money spent on Medicaid will be strictly restricted.

- Obamacare will be replaced by grants subsidising health insurance that will be allocated among the states. Both programmes will be transferred to the states in 2021 and the increase in federal spending on them will be tied to the general level of inflation

Cuts in foreign aid always sound like a win (take care of Americans first, etc.) But an argument can always be made that soft power (foreign aid, nation building) is way cheaper and a better return on investment that hard power (invading countries and farting around there for years).

The military also has waste, fraud and abuse. I have first hand knowledge and am a fiscal conservative. Cut that shite too. Balance the budget sooner. Sadly, this is a pipe dream for our president. The US Congress will NEVER curb their addiction to debt. Citizens be damned.

We should give away $0 in for foreign aid. I seriously doubt anybody gives us anything.

We have a revenue problem and those tax cuts are a big reason why the deficit grew.

This is irresponsible

The budget foresees a $1.1 trillion deficit in 2019, 2020, and 2021, and a $1 trillion deficit in 2022

ETA: Forcasts show 2.3% growth in 2019 while the Trump Budget anticipates 3.1% growth

I like the budget other than the growth rate they are using to justify the spending. Every single major corporation that does economic analysis disagrees with the 3.2% estimate. Moody's, Jp, goldman, you name it are all estimating 2.0-2.8% growth rate. We should base our growth estimates on moderate to conservative forecasts to be on the safe side. When planning a budget. I don't GAF who is in office. You don't want the deficit growing faster than GDP.
