It's a state issue, not federal.

It is as far as our Constitution is concerned, and I agree, but it is a human issue more than anything else, and while I don’t think that the federal government has EVER had any business in any of these matters, I do believe it rests upon people, their consciences, and even people like Donald Trump to make a stand on the issue of the mass killing of human beings, so people can do away with the inconvenient and unwanted humans.

I don’t think we can so simply say it’s a state issue, and that somehow that absolves us of the very real responsibility we have to make a personal stand upon the mass genocide taking place within the abortion industry in this country. In difference to people of Germany who say they were not aware that the mass slaughter of Jews was even taking place, which is certainly up for debate, we are absolutely VERY aware that the killing of babies is taking place by the millions in this country, and just as those in Germany referred to the Jews as vermin to distance themselves from what they were responsible for, so does calling it a fetus not do away with the reality that we are slaughtering actual human lives under the pretense that it’s about a woman’s health, and not about killing human beings.

And he shouldn't. Let each state decide.

State problem. Supreme Court already ruled on it. Move along.

Trump literally said it's a "terrible thing and a terrible mistake" to have an abortion ban at 6 weeks.

Yeah, Trump's been saying a lot of dumb lefty things lately. So much for the most conservative president ever on abortion. That being said, it's back to the states where it belongs. Work there to restrict abortion.

I agree. Trump has decided we are no longer his customers and he's pandering to the Democrat voters.

I’m no lawyer, but I think that what Dobbs meant is that the States Could pass their own laws regarding abortion. It did not say that the Feds couldn’t do that, it just said that a specific law had to be passed, and that a law could not be made out of whole cloth from some clause in the constitution.

I believe that in such a case, a Federal law would outrank a State law
100% correct. This is exactly what Dobbs does.

There is nothing definitive that it's not a potential federal issue

Most people who have strong opinions about Dobbs have never bothered to read Dobbs.

I agree that Trump deciding to make it an issue and thinking he can "make everyone happy" by trying to negotiate a compromise on a Federal bill on abortion is stupid.

This thread shows that you still have hope that Desantis has a chance of winning via change in public sentiment. It's sad to see.

You need to focus your energy on the beeind the scenes efforts to beat trump (indictments, GOPe shenanigans to keep him off ballot, etc.)

Trump's moving target political positions are a serious concern if he wants my vote, but thanks.

It's still 5 months before the first vote in a Primary. Hell Trump could have a heart attack tomorrow and most people aren't seriously looking at who they are wanting to vote for yet.

BTW, if Trump winning is the goal then we should get the baggage out now because it damn sure will come out later. Acting like you can hide things for a year is lunacy.

Maybe that's because it's an issue that should be left up to the states.
