Exactly. We gotta put a stop to that.

Its strange how in agreement on y'alls socialist tendencies we both are. Almost like there is something to it..

The change in you and a few others from 2016 is shocking. Its kind of amazing how quickly sheep can be led to the "free stuff' table.

Not sure what free stuff you think I'm advocating, but we've all changed in these 10 years. It is what it is.

Its more along the lines of excusing the US lack of investment, so youre wanting to own global trade with authoritarinism and policies damaging to our own people.

Its a Soviet style socialism than anything. Y'all even are pushing for more govt ownership of industry.

That was a plausible view in 2016. If you still believe that after watching his fundraising and profiting from the office since then you’re an idiot. It doesn’t make him the devil, it doesn’t mean he wasn’t the obvious choice over Kamala, but you simply cannot be a rational, informed person at this point and think he’s some Mr Smith Goes to Washington character. He’s doing a lot of good but he’s working the shite out of the system to enrich himself, just like any other politician.

It's not excusing the failures of the past by trying to think creatively about how to correct them as best as they can be.

A diabetic isn't excusing their poor decisions by amputating a limb that will kill them. Your analagous solution is to tell them to deal with it because amputation sucks and you should have done better before.

Eta
Oh and that reply has absolutely nothing to do with your original claim that I am chasing free stuff. Can we assume that was nonsense or would you like to try again?

You correct them the only way you can, start investing.

But MAGA doesnt want that to happen, they want economic warfare because they are ignorant of most things related to economics.

Stepping on the neck of the Chinee makes the baws celebrate, until they realize it will probably affect their jobs too.

This is not necessarily true, and probably not true at all depending on what you mean by hurt. It will hurt us differently, but it will definitely hurt China.
Not as much as you might think. The holy grail for Chinese government has always been an internal economy. They pretty much have that now.

The chinese have the stomach for a lot of pain, considering the ones who feel it have no choice. That's the problem.
Go have a look at a city like Chengdu. If they are "hurting" they hide it well. And yea, I've always been "but it's just the cities"... but damn, you cannot find a single metro area in the US that even approaches Chinese cities. None. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

Regulations, easy access to foreign markets.

Give American companies tax breaks to exploit N America, remove environmental regs and you'll see more N. American investment in these rare earth minerals.

I can think of one site here in Alaska thats been on hold for 20 years due to regulations.

Ok, so subsidies for the industry and deregulation. We're there. Can you guess why that hasn't moved the needle enough?

That's what everyone misses. Chinese government as focused their economic expenditures on infrastructure, transportation, and energy. Our government's main expenditures are social security, medicare, and defense.

Completely different set of priorities and goals.

Environmentalists primarily.

Same reason we didnt invest in nuclear as we should have 50 years ago.
