Its crazy how many people on this board repeat this over and over.
Since I cant get people to read Burke, here is the wikipedia page for Conservatism:

Go down to ideological variants, you will find yourself under Liberal conservatism - you guys dont even fit that billing. You are classical liberals.

The New Testament is clear on state authorities having the right to enforce morality. I do not comprehend how anyone can claim to be Christian while believing in anarcho-capitalism.
Romans 13:1-7
quote:
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

This is the correct answer.
Because, populism.

Marriage is a little different than abortion. Marriages in one state are recognized by all states. I’m good with congress passing a law legalizing gay marriage nationwide.

Your scripture is your business.

You don’t have the right to use your scripture as a cudgel to force judgment or behavior of other adults.

Agree with it or not, two guys or two women marrying have zero impact on your marriage. Do you believe otherwise?

It sure as hell had a potential impact on their children.
Before Obama lit up the White House in rainbow lights and the SCOTUS legitimized LGB marriage, we managed to make it through over 200 years as a country without guys successfully insisting on being allowed to use bathrooms and locker rooms alongside women, teachers at school actively and openly grooming elementary school children and making sure they had plenty of pornographic literature in the school library to teach them how to suck dick (with plenty of pictures) and telling them that they were probably trans kids, and doctors sterilizing children and mutilating them before they were old enough to self-consent for a tattoo.
But what do you know? The hot second Obergefell came down, all of that stuff started happening overnight.
Some people said it would. Oh, they couldn't predict exactly what would happen, but they predicted something bad would.
And you know what? It was even worse than they thought.

No it’s not. If you want to believe in the Christ, go for it. Your god has nothing to do with me and my rights in this country. Founders were deists who believed in a higher power and a fundamental right to freedom and pursuit of happiness.

No, true conservatives want to conserve, that includes traditional mores. We want government minimal but we want a cohesive society that has foundation which is found in scripture. I want limited government, but I also want a moral government.
The same limited government conservatives also want a massive military and spend almost $1 trillion dollars. That is the exact opposite of limited government.

No he wont
The prez doesnt make law. Hes only allowed to execute the laws as written. If he overrides the repeal of this law, he will be impeached. DIMs will vote just to get rid of him, and enough conservative Repubs will push it over the top.

Why would gays get married anyway? Marriage is the first step in building a family. Two dudes or two women cannot build a family. If you want to be gay be gay and live together.
Posted on 8/13/25 at 7:51 am to BayouBaw84
So a straight couple with adopted children aren't a family. Got it.

Would be funny watch libs have to say Trump did the right thing.

Oh, and you all cheering for prosecuting gay marriage do realize that Kim Davis, the woman filing to overturn Obergefell, is a democrat, right?
