I don't think we closed at all, but I don't remember because there were people at the beach the entire time we were "locked down."

With "red" examples like this, Jjobama just might convince us to ignore our eyes after all.

Jacksonville officially reopened its beaches April 17 with restrictions That's 16 days. Cocoa Beach followed suit. Satellite Beach.. followed them. Indialantic... May the 1st Melbourne Beach... Indian Harbour Beach

Beaches were closed by local governments not Desantis. The order was to limit crowds gathering on beaches.

TALLAHASSEE — As coronavirus fears grip the country, pictures of crowded Florida beaches are going viral. And Gov. Ron DeSantis is making no apologies. The Republican governor has refused to give a statewide order to close the coasts even as Democrats — and CNN — sound the alarm.

Even his predecessor — Sen. Rick Scott, a fellow Republican — has weighed in, telling people to just get off the beach.

The checkpoint in Key Largo was done at the direction of the Monroe County BOCC using the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. It went on for about a month before DeSantis told them they couldn’t do it any longer.

You can scream it to the top of your lungs, it doesnt change the facts.

Before she was apprehended, Falkenstine had attended a rally at Lummus Park where protesters called for the reopening of businesses and beaches across Florida.

She was arrested the minute she placed her feet in the sand.

Now, you want to argue in some areas it was DEMS.. But I remind you they did not have that authority without that EO.

All it took was for DeSantis to revoke that.

I didn't suggest you locked down a state, jjdoc. Why do you have to debate from fantasyland?

I reminded you that you are an admitted Covidian, and suggested you embrace the hysteria you bought into. You'd probably be a more honest poster if you did.

So everything that you are trying to say about me is massively worse for DeSantis.

I don't think anybody thinks DeSantis is retarded.

Where Covidianism is concerned, it's funny - he's near the top of the list of public figures that Covidians hate. Those are your people.

Without the ORDER they did not have the power.

You can not have it both ways Pork.

You mean when he started reopening after meeting with Trump.

Got it.

I was living in Florida at the time and drove home from New England while these checkpoints were set up.

So on your trip how many states had police stopping you at the border, other than Florida?

It's funny. One of the arguments jjdoc makes routinely is that some states never locked down. I think he's up to 5 or 6 states, but a few months ago he would cite only South Dakota. But reality is there were lockdowns in South Dakota. They weren't statewide, because it would be insane to lock down areas with a population density of about 1 person per sq mi. But there were lockdowns.

So, a good bit more than “tacit” approval.

Pointless thread all around.

quote:Jose Freire Interian was walking his dog near his Key West, Fla. home when a neighbor began recording him on her cellphone. Hours later, police came knocking on his door with an arrest warrant, and whisked Freire and his wife to the county jail. The charge: violating quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19.

Him and his wife were arrested when they were both working a day after testing positive. He was a barber and she worked in a restaurant. I’m not sure whether that was a city, County, or state ordinance.
The city of key west enacted a number of “strict” social distancing rules and mask rules that DeSantis fought with preemptive legislation. The mask rules were in place until like February of 2021. There were a lot of home rule debates going on back then and they still continue. DeSantis is not a fan of home rule regardless of the issue. Monroe County doesn’t have a single democrat on the BOCC yet they fight with him over home rule. Rules regarding vacation homes, general contractors, ports, and etc are all subject to preemption.

Thank you for acknowledging that Trump was for reopening.

LOL!

You guys simply do not see it. You are so hell bent on an argument that you no longer know what you are arguing about, against or FOR.

You have zero credibility, jjdoc. This is why. It's hard for you to type anything out that's based in reality or an outright lie.

You do. In fact you called him stupid.

And another example of you being dishonest.

I didn't call DeSantis stupid. I said if he indeed locked shite down under the guidance of Trump's administration, that would have been stupid and he'd deserve criticism for that. You're skipping over "if he indeed locked shite down."

Here is a visible issue with you. You think that mentioning 1 state is a contradiction to when I mention others later.

All I needed to do is mention 1 state to prove the point. It's not contradiction to the fact of the other states. Nor is it some gotcha!
