quote:Exactly! A State like California is extremely over represented in Congress due to their massive amounts of illegal aliens. Same with Illinois. They have gerrymandered those State's to the maximum. The only thing they can do now to increase power, is to ADD congressional seats. That's where the illegals come into play and why Biden left the Southern door wide open for 4 years! What they didn't account for was the mass exodus of citizens fleeing to other State's to escape the crime and massive taxes needed to support the illegal invasion.
Including illegals in the census doesn’t really give them representation in Congress, but it DOES give the citizens of that district/state GREATER representation…which I would imagine violates Equal Protection.
Example:
State A has X reps for Y “persons,” many of whom are not citizens.
State B has the same X reps for the same Y “persons,” but far fewer are non-citizens.
State A’s *citizens* have greater representation. Fewer citizens, same number of reps.

The last one done. I participated in an online form.
The last 2 times I had a residence in the same apartment complex...never once received a census form or door knock. After talking with many neighbors they had not either. I received nothing at my other place in the last census.
How is any of this accurate if they are ignoring entire complexes or residences?

What does the constitution say about auditing and adjusting the last census count?
Seems like confirming the numbers is constitutional somewhere.

If they are here illegally, they do not deserve rights.

By all means, lets abandon all efforts for improvement because we can't verity it'll be perfect.

Likely not constitutional, at least the way he's phrased it. The Constitution clearly says that the census is to get a count of the people, not just citizens. Now, don't count them towards representation in Congress, but it's important to have an accurate count of how many are actually here. Separate the numbers out by citizen and illegal if you have to to make that work.
The Reapportionment Act of 1929 also says that Representation is based on "whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed," from the census not legal residents/citizens only. It's a great idea but will require legislation.

Steven Miller is saying illegals are responsible for 20-30 democratic house seats. If even 20, that’s amazing

What does this have to do with anything?
You think Trump is mailing the census out tomorrow?
I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024. People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

That's something that Congress can change and amend with a few words.

The problem is that if Vance, or someone like Meatball Ron, doesn't win in 2028 the next Democratic President will just rescind this and continue counting illegals.
Any population of legal/citizens from this vs the 2020 census will be illustrative and great for political purposes that's all it will serve unless Congress amends the Reapportionment Act of 1929.
While they are at it Congress should also greatly decrease the legal/citizen population required for a rep from the current 761,169. 435 representatives is too few for a country of our size.

I am a huge proponent of the more local your government the better. In my ideal world we would have an extremely weak, specifically enumerated powers, federal government but that is not the world we live in nor one we will ever go back to. To solve that we need to make government more representative and more responsive to local issues. Increasing the number of Representatives 1)reduces the amount of gerrymandering needed (even though I'm also one of the only people who has no issue with this since it is a uniquely American institution that has been present from the beginning), 2) makes representatives more beholden to their constituents wants, and 3) decreases the power of the executive branch and returns an actual checks and balances system due to the increased number of representatives .

Which, very clearly, was intended to reflect that freed slaves were now considered "whole number of persons" for enumeration purposes instead of 3/5ths of a person.

It's probably a pipe dream to get congressional seats divvied up based on legal residents only, but if it ever does happen it'll be hilarious watching how quickly certain sanctuary cities and states stop giving a shite about illegals
Posted on 8/7/25 at 2:59 pm to bigjoe1
This will be HUGE. Forget that Gerrymandering bullshite... this more than offsets anything they can do in large blue cities. As long as they can weed out the undocumented from being counted somehow.
Not sure how they accomplish this without some type of voter ID system. That would be the natural progression.
