Umm, this is weird.

Netanyahu has an obligation to keep Israel in good graces with the US. The Israelis probably call and congratulate the election winner ASAP, whether it was Trump, Obama, Biden, Bush, Kennedy etc. It's part of the job.

Netanyahu probably has enough friends, he doesn't need to maintain a friendship with the guy out of office (unless that guy has some influence he can use).

It's like someone saying
"Bob from accounting called Bill as soon as he was promoted to head of Distribution, my old job. Bob messed up. frick Bob".
*Bob doesn't care who's in charge of Distribution, he's just trying to do his job. He would have called Frank if he got the promotion instead. He'll call Sally if she gets it next.

I don't like Netanyahu and believe that his policies have shown disregard for basic human rights.

But sometimes you have to set that aside. Israel was attacked in an attack that was planned to create a regional war to wipe out the country of Israel. This isn't an ego stroking game. If Trump can't see that right now Israel is fighting for its existence against groups that want to exterminate its population, then f**k Trump.

There is more to this than meets the eye.

Netanyahu can win him back over if he says some nice things about him. It really is that easy.

Isnt that how it works for literally everybody?

If your friend turns his back on you, and he comes back later being nice, you going to fault him for it?

Every country does it with countries with whom they have good relations, or with whom they want to have good relations.

It’s diplomatic courtesy, and if Trump weren’t such a an ignorant snowflake, he would know that.
But he is one, so it is what it is.
