This is a rouse to make the Arab countries and Iran step in and do what they should have been doing all along. The last thing they want is a permanent US presence right there in Gaza.

take the money we were wasting on USAid and use it to rebuild Gaza?
Stop the slaughter of innocent Palestinians and recover a lot of good will in the ME and stabilize that region (kick out Iran from there once and for all)
Defense contractors get fat and US companies get all the contracts to rebuild (broken glass fallacy I know).... meh it could be worse ... i guess??!?
