Thing is they don't seem to be passing it along. Winning, I'm not tired of winning.

Do the other side now where we can't even sell our products overseas because of the high tariffs so business does not prosper here.

Oh yeah you skipped that part

I'm not getting into the pedantic argument about "who pays" as much.
Ok well that’s the the thread is about.

Just the one about how the self sufficient model that tariffs build is less efficient and would have real world impacts on our economy and society.
Less efficient than what? Were we efficient before the Trump tariffs? Are there no other factors that hold any weight?

I could easily latch on to the idea that market participants find ways to have you and me pay the tariffs. Y’all are aren’t giving me anything to latch on to.

Just out here saying “yes huh you pay them and if not, well, you will soon!”

I don't think there's much more room for that

I would hope so, but the current admin is trying to get interest lowered to get more debt flowing.

But let's just say you're right. You still haven't addressed this

I did address this. It also hurts your argument about the incomes from that domestic production, as those efficiencies will mean Americans aren't even getting those jobs.
Another off-the-wall assumption.

We had 2 trillion in exports.

We mfg and export higher value products which have higher profit margins and less global competition.

And it works.

When they become more permanent, ultimately prices are going to increase. Now, if you want to say that's not consumers "paying for the tariffs" because the actual exchange for the tariffs occurred prior is whatever. That's not an distinction that matters to me.

What I care about is the ultimate effect and higher prices (and the inefficiencies that will cause, and then the secondary effects of those inefficiencies)

Even domestic prices will increase. You'll pay more regardless.

I’m curious why you didn’t address OP saying Trump is penalizing and taxing us right now.

Just leaped right over it to address some MAGA retard’s rebuttal of it.

I’d say that falls in line with what I constantly claim you do. You say you don’t do it.

I explained in the post to which you replied (and in my last one). It's a pedantic argument.

My first post was in response to this one on page 1:

quote:

One system puts pressure on a group to be self sufficient.

The other system makes the group depend on outsiders.

Which system do you think we should have?

THAT is a meaningful discussion about tariffs, their goal, and impacts.

Baked into that discussion is American consumers facing higher prices due to tariffs, so the "gotcha" in OP becomes irrelevant.

I don’t want to say that.

I want to say frick this if prices increase and I can’t causally get around them.

I also want y’all to be more honest. Might help if you’d ever coach both sides instead of just us retard MAGA types.
