Pulling out NOW is absolutely a short term / election win… but it undeniably makes Iran an overall 2-term strategic disaster for Trump, unless the regime collapses.
Just yesterday you were saying that pulling out of there and leaving it to Iran's neighbors was the best case scenario.

I'm speaking to the myriad of people on social media openly saying they trust Iran more than Trump.
But that’s part of the equation whether you wanna admit it or not. You can blame it on TDS, but the fact is we’re in the midst of a war and people don’t believe the US president.
ETA: my replies are gonna be fricked up because I’m driving right now

I put that one in the do not talk bag. He can't eliminate his doomcasting hyperbole, nor does he see the irony in his silver bullet argument being "MAGA" flip flopping as he assumes the opposing view point every time.

Imagine seeing your POTUS say one thing, the Iranians say the opposite, and thinking the Iranians are the ones being honest.
I agree, it’s a shame we have a President who’s word carries such little value

Because they’re easily manipulated sheep.

Why on God screen earth would you be so dumb as to believe a single thing that Donald Trump says?
Posted on 3/23/26 at 9:46 am to Fuzzy Dunlop
Because of sheeple like yourself

Any other outcome & we just spent a ton of money to temporarily set them back, probably made future diplomacy impossible, and provided ammunition to hardliners in the regime to say “see, I told you …we can either be Libya or North Korea”. Pulling out NOW is absolutely a short term / election win… but it undeniably makes Iran an overall 2-term strategic disaster for Trump, unless the regime collapses.
It’s sunk cost. We don’t HAVE to do anything except what is in our best interests.
The Iranians won’t trust Trump and Netanyahu again, but the next administration can start fresh.
Before you ask the question of whether we should do regime change in Iran, you should answer the question of whether we are able to do it.
I believe Trump overestimated our abilities and now is trying to extricate us without doing irreparable damage to American interests.

Oh, we are able to. But that would require us going in and occupying another middle eastern country and that is the part nobody wants to do. Iran isn't Iraq. Geographically. Occupying that country would take lots of troops and they would be there for quite awhile.
This was never our aim.
From the very beginning Trump said they're going to destroy the Iranian military's capabilities and leave it to their own citizens to reclaim their country. And now they're leveraging Iran's neighbors to take ownership of this situation as well.
Iran's neighbors have a vested interest in installing a better government there as well. How many of their neighboring countries have been attacked by Iran since this began? Also, all nations who do business in the Strait of Hormuz also have an interest in stabilizing the region.
The better play for the US is to tell these other countries to go in there and help stabilize the situation and for the US to walk away from it.

He’s trying to manipulate the markets. The Iranians, who have a shite ton of leverage right now, have denied that talks have taken place. What a disaster.

Part of what equation? I don't think DEG's dumbass is affecting decisions on Iran, for example.
The TDS "believe anyone but Trump" idea was baked in before the first bomb dropped. They have no credibility and no more power than they have had since Jan 20, 2025.
