Trump Scorches D.C. Establishment in WV: ‘We Don’t Need Advice from the Washington Swamp

"President Trump gave a full-throated populist speech at a packed rally in West Virginia Thursday, where he took aim at both Republican and Democratic lawmakers for their failures on everything from foreign policy to trade to the inability to scrap Obamacare.
“We don’t need advice from the Washington swamp,” he said to the electric crowd in Huntington, West Virginia. “We need to drain the swamp.”

Trump’s rally marks part of a broader tour of the rust belt, where he has re-engaged with the vital constituency that helped him to his win in November. Trump won the state by 42 points in November and it showed. Crowds lined up hours ahead of the rally to fill the venue and gave Trump a rockstar reception.

He used the rally to tout his successes in office, including an all-time high on the stock market, a low unemployment rate, and his decisions to pull the U.S. out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Paris climate agreement. He also pushed the plan unveiled Wednesday to cut legal immigration in half, and repeated his promise to build the wall on the southern border.

The rally was reminiscent of his signature speeches during the campaign, peppered with boisterous rhetoric and greeted by a crowd that already knew the lyrics: “Drain the swamp,” “Lock her up,” and “Build the wall.
“What the prosecutors should be looking at are Hillary Clinton’s 33,000 deleted emails and they should be looking at the paid Russian speeches, and the owned Russian companies or let them look at the uranium she sold that is now in the hands of very angry Russians,” he said.

The crowd burst into chants of “lock her up” as he listed the Clinton controversies, and cheered when Trump urged Democrats to abandon the Russia conspiracy, and get on board with helping the American people.

“Democratic lawmakers will have to decide, they can continue their obsession with Russian hoax or they can serve the American people,” he said."

But since Kushner is one of, if not his most, influential advisers, then I guess advice from the New York Swamp is acceptable?

I watch Trump's speech.

His demeanor tonight was totally different than anything I've seen before. No joking around. No smiling. Just pure fricking seriousness.

Does he think the government needs more people from Goldman Sachs?

I remember 7 years ago when Obama had an event with like 20 people behind him to promote the ACA and that was considered unpresidential. Oh how quickly times have changed.

Does he really think he is responsible for the Dow rise?

And the low unemployment rate?

I don't; want to be mean spirited, I will give him SOME credit for it I suppose.

He does deserve credit for cancelling the TPP which actually made the Dow dip because it is a terrible policy.

One thing I will give him credit for - in all seriousness - is the drop in illegals. They were dropping anyway before he took office but I have to think they are down even more now and that is because of his tough talk about the issue. Yes, I give him credit for that in all seriousness.

But the rise in the Dow? When the Dow was rising under Obama everyone on the right said credit should be giving to Yellen for her interest rate policy. What happened to that now?

1. The Dow has risen 3500 points (19%) since Trump was elected, roughly 9 months. The Dow took 3 years to grow 19% prior to Trump winning.

2. In case you missed it, Yellen has raised interest rates 3 times since the election (9 months), rates were only raised only one time under Obama in his 94 months prior to the election.

Anyone with an entry level understanding of economics would say yes.

Aside from perhaps financials, the stock market was going up no matter who won due to earnings. It's been resilient in the face of the continuous @real nonsense due to (a) gridlock and (b) the Pence put. When it corrects, as it inevitably will, @real will disclaim all responsibility for that just as forcefully as he's claimed credit for the gains, and @realists will eat up whatever excuses he makes.

It did rise from 6000 to 18000 between 2009 and 2016, prior to @real winning. That's a triple, and even if you look at pre-crisis levels, it went from 13000 to 18000, which is a 28% gain. I think your observation lacks perspective.

The stock market is going up due to cheap fuel leading to billions of dollars in increased spending on consumer goods and discretionary items and increased profits to business.

We import a tad over 10 million BPD of crude, this has kept well over 1 billion per day inside our economy that would have been lost to overseas governments and companies.

Very little to do with whomever is sitting behind a desk in the oval office.

The stock market was propped up during the Obama administration by quantitative easing. It stopped going up when the qe stopped. Then it started again when trump was elected

Anyone saying Obama had anything to do with it or that what it is doing now is any sort of continuation of anything Obama did is a liar

Dude. QE ended in Oct 2014. What was the Dow then vs when @real was elected? Your post is sad. Failing.
