Then tell me.

I always got more work done without having all the people interrupt me at my desk or with office gossip

When I had meetings away from the office
instead of having to get out the building 7 floors get into the parking garage get the car out of the parking garage
get out of downtown traffic
every one of those trips took an hour longer than it took for me just to walk into my garage and go

not even addressing the commute

And a I respond to you and other people who use terms like
quote:

everybody
that works from ,,it's very absolute

When I am talking about me ,,, I could work from home and not only not lose my efficiency but improve upon it

if I have that relationship with my employer why do you need to make it illegal?

The Fed Government has been hiring remote positions for years now. There is no office to go back

They have more office space than they know what to do with.

If it’s a matter if “show up at your local office”

I think most will be fine with that.

If it’s “hey you work in Iowa now”
that’s going going ti take out good and bad workers alike.

the thought that someone will perform just because they are forced into an office is absurd

Who had that thought?

What I've said is that they're easier to manage when they're forced into an office.

Who's talking about making it illegal? The topic is about federal workers, not private industry.

That’s ridiculous when you replace it with a better system.

I know in my department, my employees are worried. I told them they are more than likely safe since we had telework before Covid. It might impact me as a non-bargaining employee.

The extent of training and capabilities of most of these government workers is limited to only checking all the right DEI boxes.

They could never function on a real job that requires talent and know how.

Some that wont be fired for not returning to the office will be fired because they can not efficiently perform their job tasks.

I think people are going to be surprised by how many people don't quit.

If the scenario is to move offices out of DC that won't happen overnight. If they quit what else are they going to do? Some will work for contractors that will allow them to stay in DC but most won't be hired. A lot will just bide their time.

The job market isn't strong enough for mass quitting.

In the event it does happen to some people, you make them fully pay your separation money and unemployment since this is no fault of yours.
