Has to be a troll.

You're full of shite and I answered this in another thread. He and Rick Scott got rid of two corrupt officials in two counties. You can go look up the vote totals; he made gains all over the state. Trying to explain away a 20 point win in a 50-50 state with "well, the voting got fixed" is 100% copium.

Do tell. Give us specifics.

I agree with a lot of what you said because Trump helped significantly in the primary. Where I disagree is I don't think he is the sole reason DeSantis won the primary and I think he was a drag on the general election performance.
Anybody who followed the race knows it wasn't the sole reason. After Trump's endorsement he closed the gap with Putnam, and that was 8-9 months before the election. The rest of the year they were back & forth.

Of course it wasn’t the sole reason. But the salient question on this specific “sub-topic” is whether it’s likely that RD would have still gone on to win the nomination without the endorsement and subsequent proactive campaigning by Trump for Desantis.

And the salient answer is that nobody knows and it’s irrelevant.

Why even bother with this shite? It can’t be proven either way.
Could have trump helped during the primary? That’s feasible.
Could have trump hurt during the election? Feasible.

For some reason wikipedia hasn't been showing graphs for a while, but they had a polling graph that shows the 2018 gubernatorial race. DeSantis was about 10 points back in December 2017, Trump endorsed him in December, and he essentially drew even. You can see the impact from the endorsement very plainly.
But that's a long way out from the election, and RD and Putnam went back and forth over the next 8-9 months. It's not like Trump endorsed him and gave him a massive lead that he never lost. There's no evidence of a bump after than initial 10 point boost; he had to earn it after that.
And yes, given other results from 2018 it's just as likely that Trump hurt him in the general as it is that he helped him. And he's had a period of performance since then with a grade given by his constituents, so I can't think of anything less relevant. If a baseball team owner forces the manager to put his nephew on the roster and the nephew sets records and wins the Cy Young as a rookie, why he got the chance doesn't matter. His performance does.

The reason it’s relevant is because you’re discussing it on an internet discussion forum. It’s relevant for response because you’re discussing it.
And to the point about Trump possibly “hurting” him in the subsequent general, again the point prefacing that is RD wouldn’t have been in the general in the first place to even be “hurt” by Trump had it not been for Trump’s primary push to begin with.

To deny this makes you disingenuous at best.
Without Trump's endorsement, DeSantis loses to the black crackhead. Fact.
This is complete bullshite, of course.
You people try to act like we don't have data.
There's no question Trump's endorsement had little to no impact against Gillum. The argument could be made, and won somewhat easily, that associating with Trump was a net negative. I'm happy to bust anyone up on either point.
But, you should probably stick to the argument that Trump helped him in the primary. At least that argument wouldn't be a complete embarrassment because the data doesn't outright destroy it. Still, I'd have and probably win that argument, too.

What is the relevance as to the current situation? Who cares?

I posted this a couple pages back in this thread but Trump's endorsement in December only helped him in one poll until mid-March...
Trump endorsed DeSantis in December 2017. That propelled him to a lead in the last poll in December. Then he fell behind again until mid-March. DeSantis then led until the end of May/early June where polls showed him dropping back into the upper teens for support. A debate was held between Putnam and DeSantis on June 28th. Every poll after that, except two (one had Putnam up 1% in mid-July and another up 11% in August) had DeSantis up significantly.

Yes, this awful campaigner, who’s so far behind in the polls, who is hardly even taking jabs at me, must drop out “for the good of the party.” All the others are fine to stay. The guy who is driving the party off a cliff is pleading with the guy trying to save it to drop out. We’re not fricking leaving Don. Even if DeSantis drops out, there’s 40% of the base still here who will work to deny you the candidacy. Get fukt!
Dumbass!

With this kinda shite thread we deserve to lose. Arguing about how ron won the governors race. Is that really relevant now? Christ everyone pisses and moans about rhinos and GOPe and I look around here and see the exact same shite. The lack of self-awareness is truly amazing
