For fricks sake, this is the next "gotcha."
But it's bleedingly obvious if you are actually paying attention to what is happening.
The Iranian leadership is splintering and you are hearing from separate factions. Trump actually confirms this when he said explicitly "we know we are talking to the right people because they promised us a gift and delivered it, but they were the only ones who could do that."
Their central command has been obliterated. Their multiple factions have split into separate factions.
This is a much more complicated situation than an armchair quarterbacks can comprehend and is ripe for TDS losers to jump on and seize as an opportunity to say OMB is wrong.

Just shut the frick up and watch it unfold.

Same deal as when Trump was talking with China about tariffs. Trump said he was talking with China, China denied it. A couple of days later there was a US/China tariff trade deal.
