Wouldn't this also serve as a way to shut up the "Paid by Russia" trolls since Russia is a huge BRICS country? Win/Win in my opinion

So fricking dumb.

Trump is no Milei, that's for sure.

And before anyone tells me Milei wants to dollarize, that is only part of the story. He wants currency competition.

He’s willing to gamble that costs will go up enough to get manufacturers to onshore their production again. I’m not sold on that but I won’t dismiss it either as it will take years for it to happen. The problem is the years in between. That’s why I said “buckle up” on the first page. It can and will get ugly.

Tariffs can result in a deadweight loss, which is an economic loss caused by a new tax on a product or service. Tariffs encourage the deflection of trade to inefficient producers and smuggling to evade tariffs, which reduces welfare. Consumers lose more from a tariff than producers gain

I knew Roger would be melting like an ice cream sundae in hell before I even clicked on this thread

Trump is using tariffs as an economic weapon. He has laid it out pretty clearly how he intends to use them and phase them in as needed to get us back on the right track.

But once again, I’m sure Roger understands economics better than Trump.

Right. If there is enough profit, they'll return mfg but it will require permanent subsidies or as soon as tariffs are lifted, mfg disappears once more..

Low level mfg is inefficient in our country and requires constant subsides.

FIFY.

These endless conflicts that everyone bitches about are rooted in the Federal Reserve and the dollar being the world’s reserve currency. It’s a terrible, terrible policy that only benefits the state and those that control it. It is awful for everyone else. Truly getting rid of the ‘deep state’ means getting rid of the Federal Reserve and creating competing world reserve currencies.

Trump is wrong on this one.
