A key element of Trump's "plan" is the fracture the western alliance, thereby serving the interests of China and Russia, who will be seen as more stable trading partners.

Link? I haven’t heard this from anyone in his administration. Is this projecting by the talking heads on TV?

A great example is Canada and how reporting went.

Trump: we are raising tariffs on the things you need unless you do XYZ
Canada: we will raise tariffs on you!
Trump: Ah, negotiations… We will raise tariffs so high it crushes you. Final offer.
Canada: we are doing XYZ and want to be friends.

Liberal Media Spin
Trump in unprecedented abuse of power threatens to raise tariffs and destroy the economy then the next day back off his threat causing the stock market uncertainty and starting a recession

Trump will just start cutting deals with the individual countries of the EU.

Divide and conquer and then economically collapse the EU.

This is not going to happen.

There's your problem. Stop parroting talking heads and paid political influencers. Look at the world as it is and you will be better off. The information is all right in front of you.

Well I’m sitting at a park bench as I type this. Everything seems good. Birds are chirping, weather is beautiful.

My questions are still valid. Can you link anything to substantiate what you wrote?

I’ve watched press briefings, interviews and speeches. All I see is a group of people from Republicans, Democrats and Independents that have come together to try and do something never done before. Put American interests 1st. Hell, he has Robert Kennedy, Elon Musk. Neither of these have a damn financial gain in this. If anything both are souring their brands.

If all you can say is “wake up, open your eyes.” But can’t point me in the direction you are looking, you will never win me over. Also, hurling insults because I ask you to link me to the information you use to form your opinion is counterproductive to your goal.

Exactly'

Trumps desire is drama, not tariffs. He's going to bloviate until he's tired, will cause problems, fix those problems and tell his minions they "won."

Never ending the carousel.

But this sucks for those who like scotch
Wouldn't a few drops of iodine in a bottle of ever clear taste the same?

Give me a good bourbon or rye.

This. Also, PLENTY of great wines from Napa/sonoma. Highly recommend Caymus(though I’m partial because I know the people who run it). Also don’t sleep on some Virginia wines. It’s a relatively new boom and not quite as organized an industry as Napa/Sonoma but there are some great wineries.

Trump winery has a great special reserve red. Just please don’t tariff New Zealand. The wife loves her Sauv Blancs from there.

Goodness gracious. Bunch of women in here. Calm down and let him make all of your prices lower as this shite continues to happen. It's a game and we have all the leverage. Just let us win and stop crying every time he plays a hand like we're some third world country without the most desirable economic market in the history of Earth.

frick.

It's amazing how so many people are so emotional that they rush to make a fool of themselves every single time.

You could make something with the same flavor profile, it just wouldn’t be scotch because it wasn’t made in Scotland.

It has to do with the peat used in the process IIRC.

Japan tried to make its own scotch at one point and couldn’t do it cost effectively because of what it took to import peat.

Also this. Not sure if this is still a thing but back in the 90’s, my uncle in Germany could make XX amounts of schnapps in his home without having to pay taxes.
