Absolutely not. It's a free market. Supply and demand. Universities are free to raise tuition as high as they want and as high as the market dictates. And for those universities who are able to accumulate endowments of a gazillion dollars, well, this is America. Good for them.

Now if you really want to do something about that...and yes, I think tuition and endowments are both too high...get the federal government out of the student loan business. Tuition rates will plummet, and universities will have to tap into those endowments. Problem solved.

Federally guaranteed student loans. The only scenario in this country where a lazy 18 year old slacker with no job can get an unsecured loan for $100,000.

Get the federal government out of the student loan business. Slacker wants to borrow money for college? Fine. Daddy can go down to the bank and put the house up as collateral.

Ready access to tens of thousands of free dollars by kids with no income is what has caused tuition to skyrocket.
