I know I haven’t lectured anybody about what being a conservative means, and personally I would not be dismissive of the same or similar concept being presented by Desantis (or anyone else for that matter). Why not open it up to all ideas without discouragement?

Why is Trump's first instinct to outflank everyone to their left? DeSantis is far more conservative so he has no choice I guess but now he's outflanking Biden on his left.
If Trump wanted to actually solve a problem he could plan to tax Universities' endowments to pay off student loans. The Universities are responsible for the high tuition and worthless degrees, make them responsible for student debt.

My point was not at you specifically, and I apologize for if you thought it was directed at you. For months, we have been told by the best and brightest on this board that DeSantis is a RINO. that Kim Reynolds’s is a RINO, that Thomas Massie is a RINO. Today, people are calling Ken Buck a RINO and he has a much higher consecutive score (Heritage) than Matt Gaetz.
There are some in this post that are clamoring to tax university endowments and redistribute it to the people. Hardcore leftists say such things but because one suppprts Trump, that somehow inoculates you from being an actual leftist in spite of your leftist tendencies.
And this Trump plan is just more of the same. More taxes and more government. Period. To not call it anything other than what it is is just frickin wrong.

Love this proposal. Tax the hell out of these university endowments and you’ll see tuition rates start to plummet. These schools don’t spend any of this money to boost their Newsweek rankings. The only winners are the money managers for these endowments.

That's only part of his plan. The part that would be reversed by Democrats as soon as they could.
The other part of the plan, free online college run by the US government, would stay forever. Only it would be funded by the taxpayer. And AOC would have a say in the curriculum. Good luck with that.
