If Desantis is smart, even after he announces, he ignores Trumps attacks.

He simply says "I respect the former President, but here is how I would be different than Joe Biden"

Yep. Ignore him and tell everyone how you're going to make people's lives better like you did in Florida.

Ron Desantis is a great governor. I believe Ron Desantis will be President someday.

But right now America needs Donald J. Trump.

Trump 2024 - They want you and your children; I'm just in the way.

Desantis needs to make the case that he is the better candidate in the general. If he runs on "Trump is a loser", that will not play well with this group of voters.

RDS will probably focus much of his campaign on policy which he is great at explaining.

He should and probably will hit on that Trump is unelectable in the general

Don't care, still not voting for Trump. Trump is attacking DeSantis because he is afraid of him. Trump attacks everyone who he feels threatened by. I like his policies, but he is incredibly insecure and narcissistic.

Well, he hasn't. Based on DeSantis style, he will run on his record, and how he will do the same for the US, not just for Florida. He's managed to completely ignore Trump's mud slinging, why would he stoop to Trump's level if/when he announces?

It's amazing what can happen when polling is conducted to produce a specific outcome.

“DeSantis has a potential problem with independent voters. Over half, 51%, of independents disapprove of the job DeSantis is doing as Governor. Driving these voters’ disapproval of DeSantis is independent women, 61% of whom disapprove of DeSantis. Also among independent voters 50% disapprove of DeSantis handling of education, 43% approve,” Kimball said.

And yet, somehow, he won independents 53-45 in the election he won by 19 pts just a few months ago

Or when you realize what percent of our nation really is a completely lost cause.

I don't suspect that percentage is really off for Biden against ANYBODY in Florida (maybe a couple of percentage points give or take).

And that's even acknowledging that Florida is a place that has done a remarkable job of getting normal thinking citizens back into the fold.

Voting against Trump doesn't make someone a lost cause.

You might not like it, but that's reality.

Only 4 points to someone who hasn't announced? Cool.

You should. I’m in the panhandle and I don’t know a single person that wants Desantis to run for president in 2024.
