As a hypothetical, if the election was postponed indefinitely (assuming Congress changed the law), would not Trump and Pence no longer be in office by Jan. 20 (because their term in office is for a term of years and that's when it expires) and Nancy Pelosi becomes President by order of presidential succession?

Because the exact end date of the presidents term is listed in the Constitution
If Congress was also unable to hold an election, the position of acting president may fall to the president pro temp of the Senate. In any event, the President cannot remain in office

As much as I dislike Democrats, this is a very bad move. Not only is it not Constitutional, it is wrong. We are not a monarchy and the Democrats are already accusing Trump of not willing to leave voluntarily if he loses. The very notion of suspending the election scares the hell out of me. Even with the best intentions this would set a precedence for a Democrat to pull the same stunt down the road.
We have to have our elections on time. We are not at war and we all know this pandemic is more political than medical.

I'm also seeing that the 20th Amendment requires that a new Congress be convened on the 3rd day of January in each odd-numbered year. So I believe that throws a wrench into things.
