Communists don’t care about public opinion. If the communist party believes it will lose power, they will kill to stay in power, including using food shortages or firing squads.

Plus there are rumors that China lost 300-400 million people during Covid

I find this hard to believe. That’s what, 20% of the population? Covid wasn’t that lethal and Chinese are generally healthy and not overweight with co morbidities like Americans

Well in China there are 2 Covid shots both lethal, one is vaccine the other is lead.

China can't survive without the US economy. It's that simple.

China exports like 3 trillion dollars of goods. Less than 500billion is to the US. It would be a big blow to China but not a death kneel....

China has long built it reputation of a super power through ambiguity. They manipulate their currency, stealing ip’s, and using subsidies to gain market advantage.

Trump through his actions now backed China into a corner to take the U.S. head on. Super power vs Super power based on our economies.

China has been building itself to be independent from the U.S. economic system and China has tried to hide that or flex we are more dependent on them. They use soft power to gain foot holds across the globe through fears of what they may do or the economic power they may have.

China can no longer hide behind that previous system and now has to show force on the power they truly wield.

Ive said it a couple of times, we have long been a Unipolar Superpower.

Part of how you get there is saying there are multiple superpowers when you know, there is not.

And they build cities that could fit a million people but have zero.

The Chinese have not and are not as smart as you all think they are.

It's my understanding that those ghost cities were undertaken to give construction trades business to keep a portion of their economy artificially inflated with the intent of spoofing growth where there was none.

Interesting take.

It's over $500 billion. Next biggest export partner is Hong Kong so... China. I'm seeing various charts showing some place swapping between Japan, Vietnam and South Korea but those are all next in some order. And several on this list were China's entrepot workarounds to get goods to the US avoiding the tariffs on Chinese goods. With that barn door closed, how much will China actually be exporting to Vietnam, Mexico, etc?

quote:

United States: US$524.9 billion (14.7% of China’s total exports)
Hong Kong: $291.4 billion (8.1%)
Vietnam: $161.8 billion (4.5%)
Japan: $152 billion (4.3%)
South Korea: $146.4 billion (4.1%)
India: $120.5 billion (3.4%)
Russia: $115.5 billion (3.2%)
Germany: $107 billion (3%)
Malaysia: $101.2 billion (2.8%)
Netherlands: $91.1 billion (2.5%)
Mexico: $90.1 billion (2.5%)
Thailand: $86 billion (2.4%)
Singapore: $79.3 billion (2.2%)
United Kingdom: $78.8 billion (2.2%)
Indonesia: $76.8 billion (2.1%)

China's downfall will be its demographics. Too many old people and not enough young people to maintain the system.

China’s leaders have sent a clear message about the effects of the Trump administration’s sweeping tariffs: Things will be painful, but it is nothing that the country cannot handle.

A commentary on Sunday in the Communist Party mouthpiece, the People’s Daily, said Beijing had prepared for a trade war with the United States and that China could potentially come out stronger as a result.

quote:

China accused the United States of trying to “subvert the existing international economic and trade order” by putting “U.S. interests above the common good of the international community.” Washington was also advancing “U.S. hegemonic ambitions at the cost of the legitimate interests of all countries,” it said.

Or the international community has used the US as a piggy bank.

quote:

For all its bravado about withstanding the American tariffs, China was also censoring criticisms of its own move to impose retaliatory tariffs.

This is an excellent point. Trump’s actions since after the election have been targeted toward taming the expansionist ambitions of China. China ran roughshod over the world while Biden’s handlers were focused on Ukraine.
