Soybeans one day will be a profitable crop for US farmers but there will be a lot less US acres if this trade war continues.

But the trade war is hurting farmers. Nothing to be debunked about their concerns and suffering.

All farmers? The majority of farmers? Some farmers? What are you suggesting?

Lol, you can't lose markets for commodities. What a bunch of garbage. If china buys their soybeans exclusively from somewhere else, then whoever would normally have bought those beans is going to need to buy their from somewhere. You can't just magically manifest supply

Exactly. Did OP think China just decided to stop eating?

Why is it the media focuses on the one single American industry that’s hurt by the “trade war” and says nothing about all the other industries that have benefited?

If crop prices were high the media would be complaining about the high cost of food and how children are starving because their parents are working two jobs just to be able to buy food. Have not read one story about how the majority of the country is enjoying a cheap food supply.

Soy complex futures advanced Thursday led by soybean oil as China was poised to increase imports of edible oils. Chinese oilseed crush, hence oil production, has been depressed because of reduced meal demand attributed to toll taken by African swine fever. Corn futures followed soybeans higher. September corn advanced 4½c to close at $4.11 a bu. August soybeans added 16¼c to close at $8.65 a bu. August soybean meal advanced $1.80 to close at $294.80 a ton. August soybean oil advanced 1c to close at 28.96c a lb

The 2018 Farm bill has $15B in the market facilitation program to cover these whiny pussies. I signed the paperwork Friday.

Acres have decreased but the immediate effect is going to be the loss of small acreage farmers who can't afford to increase efficiency with modern practices. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Did he mention acres in Brazil are up more than 1 million acres?

and the US is down by 10million acres which means that a net of -9million acres.

The Chinese are even encouraging the Russians to plant more beans.

Which is part of Russia's trade reorientation from the EU to China which Russia started back in 2014 as a way to keep its economy alive in the face of US and EU sanctions.

quote:

Average farm yields ranged from approximately 20.6 bushels per acre for the typical farm in Russia (1.39 metric tons per hectare) to 55.5 bushels per acre for the west central Indiana farm (3.74 metric tons per hectare)

Of course they are wanting Russia to plant more beans. The USA produces twice the number of soybeans per acre compared to Russia.

You do know that farmers can plant different crops?

quote:

The combination of a weather-related planting delay, lower-than-forecast crop yields, and the probability of fall frost could conspire to produce double-digit gains in futures prices. “I think we could see a rally to new highs by the end of the year,” says Shawn Hackett, president of Boca Raton, Fla.–based Hackett Financial Advisors. Corn futures prices could reach $5 a bushel by year end, or about 12% higher than their recent $4.1175, Hackett says. But they may go even higher.

If corn prices get back in the $5 range then farmers are not going to give a shite about soybeans.

How long do you expect that to last with idle bean acre that can go to corn?

You people are just wrong about the impact of the trade war on US farmers.

The facts are simply the facts----our soybean inventories and our pork inventories are at huge levels.
