IMO, DeSantis will not be running for POSTUS in 2024. He is running for reelection this year (November 26) and will carry his term out to 2026 and help another DeSantis type person take the Florida governors seat in 2026. If the President can’t call the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease and say I think we need someone under the age of 60 to be director, then you have one of two problems. DeSantis has managed his state well with COVID but Florida has a host of other issues that he has been asleep at the switch on. He needs to show me more. I call it a strong maybe.

The frick it doesn’t. You won’t find a 40 year bureaucrat under 70 at least. The only way, in my opinion, to get a person who has a working knowledge of policy and has recently practiced medics is to aim for someone in the age range.
