Let’s not forget that Putin has repeatedly stated that "the whole of Ukraine is ours" in theory and that Russians and Ukrainians are "one people", frequently denying Ukraine’s status as a legitimate, independent nation.
Putin wanted Ukraine because he wants to put the USSR back together. NATO expansion is just a red herring…

He doesn't want him to bleed out.
I think I heard Bessent being interviewed by Kristen Welker today. She said it was so awful to purchase the diesel. Bessent said that Europe is still importing billions of dollars of energy from Russia and that is funding the war effort. Trump feels if they are doing this why should we suffer as the only country to truly pay attention to the sanctions. Duplicitous Europeans.
