Whatever the case may be, besides political optics, why is it a bad thing that he has said there may be an offer and I will consider it? (IF these are the details)
I only ask because some see it as a ‘gotcha’!, and others see it as a ‘no way’ situation. The President has been consistent about the nuclear weapons situation. This was THE stated goal from the beginning. If this was achieved along with the strait being back to normal, what are the downsides?

Because the people in charge who want a bomb are still there, and presumably will still attempt to achieve their goal, especially after we unfreeze their assets and effectively compensate them for their troubles the last couple of months
It's a temporary political fix that Trump can stand on while he's in office, then wipe his hands of the day he leaves.

I'm not sure how much longer Trump can thread this needle. Any war offensive will almost certainly raise national average gas prices to well over $5 for the summer driving months. This will cause a Blue wave in November. I think the best option is to destroy everything in Iran, but politically it's suicide as we've crossed the Rubicon into essentially summer at this point.

Depends on the deal. If the deal is, as he's stated before, that they cannot have uranium and open the strait of Hormuz, then that's a great fricking outcome.
If it's neither of those he's absolutely chickening out. Anyone who would defend a deal like that is a certified pussy.
