This is far from a Reagan/Volcker team to say the least.
Of course it is, Jimmy Carter appointed Paul Volcker.
My question is, why should the fed drop their rate?

Stop being dense.
The people that want a ticket to the party in that town will lie, cheat and suck any dick to get there. Once they get there - especially at the helm of an evil machine like the Fed - they are beyond any one man's control and they know it. Trump is dealing 100% with morally questionable, ambitious people... just like he is. The difference is, he doesn't need what that town's selling. Those he appoints, however, need it like a drug and will stab him in the back repeatedly if that's what it takes to keep it.

I’m ok with the fed slow rolling their cuts, but there are a shite ton of poor to middle class who are paying 25 to 30 on credit cards. Some were stupid but some had no choice with the Biden economy.
Cap those for a while and you will get more spending money flowing.

End the Fed
This is what Trump’s executive order helps do. It takes significant power away from the Fed and I can see those owners not being happy

I have a credit card, it would charge 13.5 % if I ever let it go past a month.
Other people abusing credit shouldn't cut into my profits.

Is that really what we want when we're struggling to get inflation down?

Lower mortgage rates, not cc and auto loans.
If Trump wants to make buying a house affordable this is the way.

Pretty high bar being raised for rate cut expectations

why should the fed drop their rate?
"With oil prices going down, I'll demand that interest rates drop immediately,"
"Interest rates should follow us,"
"interest rates are far too high."
None of that actually answers the question.

Clearly, you don't.

Very educational retort.
Because that is not how it works. Powell was more than favorable to Trump last time now he is some boogeyman. You guys don't even remember how we got to this point with inflation and if someone tells you you will reject it. The idea that Trump spending 6 to 8 trillion dollars didn't usher in inflation but Biden's 6 to 8 trillion did is just stupid. That's not how any of this works.

Low interest rates and quantitative easing got the country into the troubles we've been in. Trump is looking at it as he has 4 years to make a mark but slashing the rates to the bone will not be helpful long term
Low interest rates were just fine until Covid and then all our Reps sold us out and dumped trillions into economy. Those trillions are what fricked it up not the low interest rates. After the dumps it overheated economy and forced rates higher. It was all Fed induced.
With Trump and DOGE, lots of fed costs will be cut via lots of feds unemployed. Trump is working on fixing the economy with private industry not fed induced money.

I agree with you that Trump started inflation going up, but if you want affordable housing, mortgage interest rates need to drop.
It adds hundreds to the monthly payment.
