If the judge holds Trump in contempt, I think he will show restraint and not jail him. Instead, I can see him putting an ankle monitor on Trump, letting him travel between the court house and Trump Tower.

My question is: How would the Secret Service respond to such an order?

Setting aside crazy notions like making the thing explode, can they do their job, if their charge is continuously transmitting his location? Are the transmissions from ankle monitors encrypted or even remotely secure?

No way. Dude is ate up with TDS. His daughter has gotten paid $4M from bug-eyed pervert Adam Schiff. You know some of that cash has made its way back to Merchan.

ETA - Correct typo on judge's name

Maybe, but I see zero chance the Secret Service would allow him to be incarcerated in a city jail. You know what they say …never issue an order you know will not be followed. I see the monitor as a likely “compromise,” if you will.

Let’s set that aside though. My question is more about the mechanics of the matter.

It's not crazy to think the ankle monitor thing can end up causing an incident which removes Trump and leaves the GOP scrambling. Now the likelihood is probably near zero this is merely just shaking the tree most likely.

They don't want to light up the pit for a BBQ.

They want to keep it on slow boil.

POTUS Trump can call that Judge whatever he wants and there is absolutely nothing the Judge can do and the Judge knows it.

It's much too early to play the cards up their sleeves. We still need one of these parasitic criminal "newcomers" to FAFO with the cops and become the latest martyr for the George Floyd Memorial Hunger Games 2024.

With pearl snaps for stars and tulle clouds.

None of which addresses the question.

Do you really think the Secret Service is going to allow a person that they are task with giving their lives for to have an electronic ankle bracelet on the subject.

You talk about an enormous risk .,..,having a Geo location finder that is not in SS control and some hacks hands for review??

I don’t think so

I'm guessing the judge will fine Trump $1,000 for each violation of the gag order. I believe the count is now at 7. $7,000 for Trump is chump change.

I know criminal contempt is at least a possibility, but I'd bet against it happening.

Secret Service, CIA and FBI have been all to get Trump since he announced in 2015.
CIA will help the "crazy" lunatic kill him just like they did to JFK and RFK over 50 years ago. Surprised it has not already happened. Probably using him as an "example" with all these BS lawsuits. If they can f-ck up a US President, what are they going to do to us?
The US is as corrupt as any 3rd World country. When the US $ loses reserve currency status, this country will be totally gone.

I'm quite certain that his would be if the court went that route.

I also sincerely doubt that an ankle monitor would be used in any event, considering that he will have a permanent SS detail for the rest of his life.

Regardless of whether we are discussing DJT, W or Billy Jeff, I think that this raises an interesting question.

A former POTUS is just a private citizen, and he is subject to judicial process just like you or me ... or at least he SHOULD be. Secret Service is tasked with preventing crazy people from killing him, but I would be VERY surprised if their statutory authority extends to "interfering with state-level judicial orders."

Take an extreme example.

A grand jury in (for example) Missouri indicts Billy Jeff for some felony, and he decides that he DOES NOT want to surrender to the arresting deputies. Is Secret Service obligated (or even AUTHORIZED) to prevent officers of the State of Missouri from arresting him? Do they engage in a firefight to prevent it?

I suspect that nothing in their charter would authorize that sort of action. If we start from that premise, how would they be justified in preventing a state judge from ordering the use of an ankle monitor in enforcing a criminal contempt ruling?

Trump should thumb his nose at this fricking judge. Ankle monitor ˜ election interference if it prohibited his ability to campaign.

The point of an ankle monitor in this scenario would be?

Exactly.

There is no where in the world Trump could go and it be kept secret.
