"I've given a special edict that the defense companies who have the best equipment — they're not making it fast enough, and now they're all building plants all over the place — I said you're not allowed to buy back stock anymore," Trump said at an event for military mothers.

The president was referring to an executive order he signed in January that blocks defense contractors from paying dividends or buying back stock until "they are able to produce a superior product, on time and on budget."

"I told some of these people that are making millions and millions of dollars, 'You got to reduce your salary. I'm going to reduce your salary. You're going to put it into weapons,'" Trump said today.

Sounds like communism to me.

You think the president should be able to cut the salary of a non-government publicly traded corporation? That isn’t conservative in the slightest.

For a business that isn't directly paid via the government sure.

But every dollar some of these companies get is from the government.

It's a motivation, if you want big money again, fix the production issues.

Perhaps but that is a separate question and something under the purview of the executive and legislative branches. Threatening the compensation of publicly traded companies is well beyond free market economics and the rule of law.

Believing everything (or in some cases anything) the MSM puts out.

Especially about a man they despise.

During WW2 private industry basically did whatever the frick the government told them to do

And no one wants to hear this but it created a golden era of economic expansion

Maybe we should let them just keep on bending us over.
Always over budget and behind schedule on everything.
We are always getting bean pole fricked by them.
