Honestly, I want to watch but just can't. I want to share the experience with my sons....just football. When this issue is fixed, I will watch again. We talk about politics enough at the dinner table, we don't need to during a football game. I understand that the soldiers died so anyone can have this freedom to kneel. But it is an issue of respect, not freedom of speech. I think it is lazy and a lack of principle to watch right now. I hope to watch again before Brees retires.
I'm pretty sure that is what I said. I've posted my original comment for your convenience.

I wish beejon was still around.
Well, I wish beejon still posted as beejon. There are a few candidates for his alters.

Despite low, 13.4 overnight for #NFLKickoff game is highest for any sporting event since the Super Bowl. The NBA Finals topped out at a 12.7 for Games 2 and 3.

But as you've stated yourself, other things in your football (like pink cleats, or honoring fallen servicemen) aren't a problem.
So when you say

Honestly, I want to watch but just can't. I want to share the experience with my sons....just football.

Yeah but where can you find anything that is politics-free now?
In pretty much anything productive. Which is not a bad thing.
Playing my guitar, writing music, writing short stories, listening to music, trying to pretend to pay attention to my wife.

Another record year of revenue for the NFL.
Do you not understand how TV contracts work? The current NFL TV contract id in place before and based on ratings before all of this started.
The next TV contract won’t be nearly as lucrative if things stay the way are.
It’s hard to take you serious when you make claims the NFL is doing better than it ever has.
You come across as TJGaytor or Jjdoc type of stupid.

There is no way you are married. If you are, it is doomed so start planning.
But let me see if I can make you feel better (although I'm doubtful). I would like to watch football without specific political distractions that happen to bother me. I prefer to just veg out with my sons and talk about the football game or any other small but insignificant topics that are not too heavy for father-son time. We like to save those heavier topics for the dinner table.
And just in case you get confused again, I'm not a vegan just because I used the phrase "veg out".

Oh.
And how do you suppose those contracts are valued?

You should've held off on this because you're about to get embarrassed, again, assuming you follow through with your nonsense...

Great. I'm glad you're able to represent your opinions more truthfully now.

What about when the NFL does breast cancer awareness?
I find it annoying. But your false equivalency is as annoying if not more so. I am all for raising breast cancer awareness. My mother, 2 aunts, and grandmother are breast cancer survivors. Raising awareness for breast cancer is not a politically divisive issue. But the month of pink does slightly annoy me.
quote:
Or prior to this when they'd honor Pat Tillman?
I had no problem with the NFL honoring a former NFL player who died in the Armed Forces. I did find it annoying when they kept pushing it and politicizing it and then people started using his death to talk about war and politics during and after football games.
quote:
you may not be aggravated by what you're explaining.
Nothing you posted is close to what I am explaining. And the fact that you cannot understand that is concerning or me. Right now, if I turn on ESPN, 95% of the time it is some arrogant moronic personality like Steven A Smith just screaming at the top of his lungs about some faux-racist nonsense or about how a player is "throwing shade at a cause on Twitter" or some player got traded because the owner of the team is a suspected racist or whatever else. That has nothing to do with football highlights. It has nothing to do with football at all.
What happened to intellegently breaking down a scheme? What happened to commentators discussing plays and highlights? What happened to calm and collected experts discussing football during football season on Sundays?
These protests are even worse than the try hard employees at ESPN. They are not about anything. They do not have a real cause. To try to compare this nonsense to cancer awareness is intellectually dishonest at best. And their figurehead and leader, Colin Kappernick is an average at best quarterback who cannot find work because he is not good enough at his job. There is no conspiracy against him. He just sucks.
Like I said earlier, if it does not bother you, great. Enjoy it. You are not going to convince me that Steven A Smith or Skip and Shannon screaming nonsense at me is something I should find intrinsically entertaining.

As stated in other posts earlier, I don't want to give the NFL ratings until they re-address the issue. I offered a compromise that is totally reasonable.

Well shame on them again, but I wasn't aware of that by watching or listening to a game. The commentators don't mention that nor do they show tax returns after the games pointing out that fact.

Lulz what a spin. There hasn’t been anything to watch since the super bowl. Nobody cares about the nba

I don't like the kneeling thing. I miss football without political statements. Better? Easier to understand?
