Y’all should read the book “Brotherhood Of Darkness” by Dr Stanley Monteith. He explains who was behind taking God out of public schools and why they did it. It’s a great read and if you’re a part of the Q thread you will love it.

Governments should have never taken over schools like they should have never taken over healthcare.

quote:Oh, you only recognize things as they were when the nation was founded? If you offer optional study of one religion that is fine, but dont be all pissy when they offer classes for other religions over time.
Please state in detail how Islam was fundamental in the founding and establishing of our nations laws and culture?
The founders wanted to separate church and State for a reason. There is nothing more State than school.
People that want school led prayer are the same, they love it...when it is their religion. Then they get all bent out of shape if someone prays to a different God on their time.

Lastly, it's disingenuous to pretend that Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or any other religion besides Judeo-Christian had the same impact on our country. So in that respect, yes, it should be given preferential treatment.
No it should not
I bet you had supported the 10 commandments being displayed in front of the Alabama state Supreme Court building?

Clear violation of the first amendments establishment clause
Here is the text of the clause;
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
Please explain to me how Congress is involved in this and why you ignore the part about the government prohibiting their free exercise?

Did the state always run schools?

No they did not. The separation clause was written to protect churches from the government and not the other way around.

Why wouldn't I? It's already on the Supreme Court building in DC.

Schools receive ~10% of funding from Feds

I'd like you to answer this question.
Would you like Bible classes in public schools in hopes of promoting Christianity and converting people to Christianity?

I don't want any mandatory religious classes.

That isn't what I asked and I know you're intelligent enough to know that.
Do you want an elective class to promote Christianity?

I have no problems with an elective class to study the Bible. Whether this constitutes promoting is up to you.

I'm asking you if you are ok with it being promoted.

Your very first post in the thread advocated for promoting it.

I already answered the question on what I'm ok with.
What kind of promotion are you talking about?
