Just a hunch: those arrests were bullshite too and the charges will be dismissed. The court documents are as straightforward as can be. The contractor did shitty work. The vandalism arrests were a poor attempt at deflecting from that.

It’s a pretty good way to get people to stay on your side tbh:
Rile them up by making something up.
Ignore it when it isn’t true so the amount people get agitated is significantly more than the frustration when they find out it wasn’t true.
