I think tax returns will just confirm what most suspect: his wealth is exaggerated. Im sure there may be some tax shell games in there as well, but nothing that should be impeachable.
If it were to come out in the beginning of his campaign, it would have been more damaging to his brand than anything and Im not sure he would have had the credibility to match his perceived persona at that time.

Don't have to. Sessions had to correct his Congressional testimony when he said he had no contact with any Russians. Kushner has had to change his security clearance forms one more than one occasion. Flynn was indicted for lying about his contacts with Russians. They all initially lied about the Trump Tower meeting with Russians, then lied about who was present, the lied about what the meeting was about.
It's been a constant stream of lies and shifting of the goalposts, which signals to me there is something underneath the lying they don't want the public to know. Maybe it's innocent, but I'm not that naive to just ignore it.
