President Trump said Tuesday the U.S. would maintain a "steadfast partner" with Saudi Arabia in a striking statement that described the world as a violent place and made it clear the administration does not want the killing of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi to tarnish the relationship between the two nations.

In the lengthy statement, Trump said "we may never know" who was responsible for the killing of Khashoggi even though the CIA has reportedly concluded that Prince Mohammed ordered his assassination.

"Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the crown prince had knowledge of this tragic event — maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!" the president said.

"The United States intends to remain a steadfast partner of Saudi Arabia to ensure the interests of our country, Israel and all other partners in the region. It is our paramount goal to fully eliminate the threat of terrorism throughout the world!" the statement said.

This is a slap in the face of the American Intelligence community and should not be taken lightly.

The "American Intelligence Community" slapped America in the face when they spied on a Presidential campaign

But he's going further in doubting the CIA's assessment.

He won't even listen to the tape.... How can anyone defend this as "America First"? You trash your own CIA?

Haspel should resign in protest.

We should immediately cut off our relationship with Saudi.

Watch gas prices rise or stop all imports. We should destroy our economy and the worlds economy over this.

Yep seems like a smart thing to do over some reporter. Heads of state have been assassinated and this was not the result.

Because a tape of his murder (Which Trump is too sensitive to listen too) backs up their assessment.

I am no fan of Trump, but this is a tough situation, and I don't think any recent President would be doing things differently.

The "reporter" wasn't a U.S. citizen. Why should we care?

So if you are a U.S. person who is kidnapped, tortured, and killed for exercising your rights by a country in which the President happens to have a personal and financial interest, he’ll stand with that country, not with you — and he considers that putting “America first.”

Trump is such a fricking idiot. He can actually come out and say that Saudi Arabia has been an important ally of the United States and that we would like to preserve that relationship. We don't in any way condone what happened to Jamal Khashoggi and find it to be unacceptable. Then he can call on our ally to ensure that justice is done, etc etc.

He doesn't have to look like an idiot saying crap like, "it could have been anyone." He sounds like O.J. offering a reward for his wife's killer.
