The only "church" I've heard of that believes that is the one out in Phoenix where Steven Anderson is the pastor.
Even Westboro (from the God Hates figs fame) believes that gays can repent.

Never been to a church that said that. This is just another in a long line of anti-religious/atheistic caricatures of what they think church is broadly based on a single interaction with some Bible belt grandmother who was born in the 1930s.
i think the thing he is trying to point at but failing to grasp, is that the church as a whole is not trying to rewrite what adultery is. i agree it can be swept under a rug, and we should call that out when it happens, but there's no movement in the church to argue that adultery wasn't really a sin and we should change what the Bible was written as to meet our modern view of the word.
that is unfortunately what is happening with homosexuality.

Preaching that the audience will burn for eternity is how to get them to walk away.
Accepting that we are all sinners, each and every one, and need to seek redemption as part of our daily lives is the truth. You’re right as far as hellfire and brimstone and threats is unpalatable if it ends there, but it shouldn’t.

This world is big on feeling good about themselves, just not very much into the whole repentance thing or seeing themselves through God’s eyes, and so they miss the entirety of the Gospel message, the need for a savior, and instead fall prey to false gospels and false prophets, and there are many of them today who dress hip, talk hip, and tell you just what you want to hear.

Even Gospel oriented churches are putting their work at jeopardy with the seeker sensitive stuff.
I just do not understand where people who claim fire and brimstone is the dominating theme are going to church. Nor those who come out of the woodwork claiming trauma and spiritual abuse. I think both occur, I suspect both are wildly overstated by those who just don't like hard truths and/or recall only a snippet (intentionally or unintentionally) of what is being preached.
I've attended tons of large conservative SBC churches, and never experienced this stuff. Perhaps small rural GA SBC churches are all hellfire and damnation around the clock, but if so, how are so many people claiming to be "harmed" by these tiny churches with tiny congregations?

We are in age of Grace. Sinners can be saved. Salvation is thru faith in Christ. We are all sinners. If in faith, we try not to sin. All will fail. Some try harder than others. Others reject Christ and do not try to live sin free. Is already a pretty simple and inclusive message found all thru the new testament.
Not sure why a church would post such a message.

Sin absolutely cannot and should not be minimized, obfuscated and/or removed from the conversation.
Of course. And b is not only meaningless but blasphemous without a. I was giving tgc the benefit of the doubt that “proving” people are sinners would be an odd focus.

The Bible was written during a time where it was ESSENTIAL that every man and woman were having as many kids as possible.
When life expectancy is 39, and 7 of your 9 kids don't make it to age 3, society didn't have the luxury of having adults who weren't pulling their weight in the procreation department.

i grew up in West Texas and mainly attended SBC churches but went to others with friends. Catholic, CoC, Methodist, etc.
The only fire and brimstone ones i ever attended were Church of Christ (one of those, if you're not a attending a CoC, then you're not a member of THE CoC.) Pentecostal, and a Primitive Baptist church.

As soon as one minimizes the seriousness of sin, no sooner do we remove the need of a Savior.
As soon as you let the savior define the "sin", you've become a cult.
How about just living a life where you treat people with respect, help folks who need it and pay as much attention to your responsibilities as you do your rights.

Christ died for your sins in one of the most horrific ways in History, but we want to make sure you feel good about yourself above all....

Did the OP just read the tweet or read the actual article?
Your an idiot if you think walking up to a tranny and saying, you’ve got a penis and your acting like a woman and you’re going to burn in hell, is going to get you anywhere.
The article is about having the heart of God when approaching lost people, approaching them with love for their soul, and in a caring fashion sharing the Gospel with them in a way that resonates with them.
Nobody is going to listen to you if your just browbeating them the whole time.

We have exchanged the truth for a lie…
No one hates the sinner but no one should be willing to accept the sin either…

Everyone is so sensitive that any non-affirmation of their choices becomes “judgmental.”

The Gospel Coalition started out strong, but quickly fell to the wayside.

IMO TGC is like a number of our denominations. There are cracks showing up and warning signs, but they're still preaching Christ crucified on a daily basis.

Do the words post-Christian imply Christianity is over? Is a poor choice. Author could have referenced Jesus saying he who forgives is forgiven. Coulda just been a simple tweet but instead chose to title with a phrase that, when seen, many Christians will not read.
