I have not been a non-partner employee in any business venture in your adult lifetime.

Yep, if there was truly a shortage, they could easily go find employment that pays better.

My wife has been a nurse in a union hospital.

If you suck at your job, you'll love a union.

If you want to advance, you'll hate it. High performers will hate it.

Union is borderline commie crap. Everyone gets the same, paid the same, same rules, etc. Organized Labor is NOT America.

Well, you've clearly not served in the role. You'd also not do well working for me if that was your expectation. My effort is always to put folks in their best position to succeed. Toxicity is an impediment for both individuals and their colleagues. It's not allowed, JFYI.

Exactly. Desire for union representation is a litmus test for a lack of ambition.

It works for the unskilled, the uneducated and the lazy.

With unionization, that defers to seniority.

My hands are tied on old employees I did not hire. Its pathetic.

Well, its the topic here so I assumed you were pro union.

Seniority destroys supervisors ability to manage the way one should manage. It takes decision making out of your hands.

Given the idiotic administrative milieu, I am an empathetic observer.

—not sure how that works exactly
Clearly.

E.g., An administrator is concerned the hospital might lose a fraction of Medicare reimbursement due to patient complaints about post-op pain. He pressures hosp employed MDs to over-prescribe narcotics. Those who attempt to educate him on the dangers of his request, or refuse to prescribe, are laid off, demoted, reassigned, or otherwise retaliated against. Later when addiction and O/D pblms surface, the administrator works blame to his medical staff and/or pharma.

Does this mean they will get some new Tik Tok dance routines?

Nurses are fairly easily replaced, CEOs not so much.

In today’s market that is not necessarily true. Nurses are hard to find and most don’t stay in the industry long. They all want to be NP’s now.
