I’m sorry you have so much hostility towards me for a simple opinion. How is making a video designed to deceive not a lie? Please explain as I’d like to understand how that is not a lie?

You want to know what a lie is? The “quote” you posted above as if I mentioned death threats and harassment as something that would make him think twice. I never said that. You changed my quote to make it look worse. That is a lie.

I have no problem using real names on message boards. I posted mine a few minutes ago. I will never say something here that I would not willingly say to someone’s face in real life.

It’s pretty clear from the article that he was the one who made the misleading video. How is he not trying to mislead people?
Like this?

Roger, I don’t disagree with you. The media paints things in the light that best reflects the point they want to make. That is troubling as well. They have done that to Trump many times and I don’t like that either. I know it’s considered pollyanish, but I want a civilized conversation. Not one based on vitriol and hate. I’m afraid we may never get there though.

Wouldn’t editing the speed/tone of a video to present the speaker as having issues be a bit disingenuous?

I’ll likewise agree changing skin tone in pictures to advance a narrative as previously seen on the other side is terrible and should face consequences

Doctoring a video to make it something it’s not is a lie, fake news, deception. Take your pick. It’s not the truth any way you look at it.

or comedy. Are you calling every photoshop of Trump a "lie"?

Is this Alabama Spring Practice clip "a lie"
because Nick Saban really isn't that short . . .

No, the Saban thing is not intended to deceive so that is not a lie. It’s like an advertisement. You can’t tell a deceptive lie. That can get you in trouble. You can though do something so over the top such as “best in the world”. That is legal and called puffery as the average person would not be expected to see that as truth.

So everyone on message boards across the internet should be doxxed for making videos and gifs making fun of famous people

That's essentially what you're getting at. There isn't a line in the sand here

No, comedy is fine. Deceptive political discourse is not.

Well, everyone COULD and that’s a consideration that has to be made when you produce content to put in the public square.

That said, our society has generally had a hazy line somewhere between “funny meme” and various standards of “deceptive character assassination” or “appalling/grotesque behavior” or various other silos where you kind of expect someone to potentially attempt to punish behavior. It’s murky and best and abused at worst but yea, it’s reality

A meme of trump with comically small baby hands being far different than editing video to look like trump had a stroke and spreading it as a major news story are not going to create the same pushback from you, I would think

I haven’t compared them but someone said speed changed, and tone edited to conceal that and make the speaker look worse

So by Kevin Poulsen's own admission, someone posted the ORIGINAL Pelosi video with her halting, blinking, stuttering statement. That video was unaltered. A question was posed in response, "Was she drunk?"

After that, a new OBVIOUSLY ALTERED video was posted. The altered video made fun of Pelosi's original drunk-like appearance. How is that a "lie"?

No but I’d react differently to someone posting a realistically forged drug test or police report or totally fabricated social media post for one of his kids right before the draft starts.
