I’m saying the fact that the Liberty was absolutely not supposed to be where it was, and was absolutely not where we were telling them it was, made them doubt the American identification and attack. Pretty simple.
None of that makes any sense. The Liberty wasn’t beholden to Israel’s commands on where it should and shouldn’t be.
They knew it was American and attacked it anyways. Even if you want to pretend that they “doubted the identification” initially, why did they make repeated passes with jets and missile boats after the Liberty directly ID’d itself and ran up a huge American flag?

ISRAEL HAS A RIGHT TO DEFEND ITSELF!!!!

You lie. Israel knew exactly what it was, and there are transcripts to prove it.
Holy hell. We were told not to go where the Liberty was. We told Israel we weren’t there, but we were. Why can’t some of you grasp the idea that even though they may have identified it as American, they would question that identification because we weren’t supposed to be there, and were telling them that we weren’t?

shite happens when you’re at war, and they were. We told them we weren’t going there, and then we did. This is exactly how friendly fire incidents happen all the time.

We can discuss it any time.

How about a hypothetical?
Someone is coming in your back yard and stealing your shite. You tell your good friend and neighbor Bob, that you are going to shoot and kill anyone who comes up in your back yard, so don’t be there. Bob says he will stay away. That night you see someone in your back yard that looks like Bob. You call Bob, and Bob says he’s not in your back yard, so you shout and kill Bob, because it turns out it was Bob in your back yard. Is it your fault, or is it Bob’s fault he’s dead?

Friendly fire incidents are accidents. Israel knew what they were doing, and kept doing it after they became aware that it was an American ship. That is not an accident

They were told loud and clear by the Liberty itself who it was. Before and after the attack commenced.
Your position that we weren’t allowed to be in international waters because Israel said so is laughable.

Completely irrelevant hypo. International waters is not anyone's backyard. The Liberty was not trespassing.
Also missing from your hypo is that before you shoot and kill Bob, you know its him because he says "don't shoot, its Bob", and you identify it as Bob before shooting. Then you shoot him and go to jail for murder.
ETA: You also appear unwilling to recognize that Israel itself acknowledges that it was at fault, and not the Liberty.

The Israelis murdered American servicemen, they even shot the men in the water.

The first pilot identifies the Liberty as an American ship in the audio, and asks for confirmation of his orders.
He is told to attack the ship.

That information was not in anything I read. I’ll do some more looking.
