It was a stupid comment, but it wouldn’t have mattered who was piloting this thing. It was done as cheaply as possible and it bit them. And the stupid comment was made by the guy who oversaw the design at a minimum, and he probably had a very active role.

They have 6 people on their board and their leadership page lists 4 more "leaders". Of the 10 people on the board and considered a leader all 10 are white, all but one is over 50 and all but one is a man. So 9 white men, one under 50 and ne is some sort of softward guru, obviously, cause 50 year old white men ain't software gurus usually.
It certainly wasn't diversity which caused the accident because they do not have any....

So apparently that CEO was talking out of his arse and wasn't practicing what he was preaching, which makes it pretty likely he was a left winger

I would posit that left, right and center anyone in a position where they could impact diversity when talking about diversity is merely using buzz words and, as you say, talking out their arse. They could care less about diversity and are interested mainly in getting someone who won't frick up what ever it is they need to get done and will do so for the least amount of money possible. If that means a green person from Mars that is the person who is going to get the gig....
