It's never been...Keith Olbermanns' version of person.

It's not like a greatest guy award. It's been most influential and most talked about that year.

It's not a great guy award.

The person who sold the papers and was basically the most famous that year and influential in world events.

That entire list makes sense for those years.

Time Magazine is a joke, the past 20 years or so they've taken on a relentlessly horrible left wing crusade.

And the "man of the year" award has gotten to be a joke too. When it started it was just influential men, now it's just fluff clickbait.

It refers to baby boomers:

Though the title was given to the generation overall, a few famous names were singled out as examples: 23-year-old chess genius Bobby Fischer, 19-year-old world record miler Jim Ryun, 24-year-old folk singer Buffy Sainte-Marie, 20-year-old artist Jamie Wyeth, 25-year-old actress Julie Christie, among others.

Hard to believe that in the '50s Time was considered "the house organ of the Republican Party".

It used to be people grew more conservative as they got older.... But the media at least turns left

LBJ made it twice, including arguably the peak year of his involvement in the Vietnam quagmire in 1967. What a joke.

Gotta be honest, putting “2006 Time Person of the Year” on my résumé hasn’t been the door opener that I expected it to be.

This year is curious. I have no clue who it will be. Objectively Trump would win again, but I doubt they'd allow it.

In an extremely fricked up way, Harvey Weinstein could be it for exposing the Left and the Hollywood industry. I mean with this in mind, why the frick not shouldn't Harvey Weinstein be the Person of the Year? Hitler was Man of the Ywar right before invading Poland. He should be gloriously ridiculed for letting the public knowing this.

It doesn't mean "best", it means "most influential", which is why Time extremely reluctantly awarded Trump the title last year. I absolutely think that Harvey Weinstein for once in his life is worthy of the award since I think Hollywood is about to fall from his exposure.
