The so-called TikTok ban is a trojan horse.

The President will be given the power to ban WEB SITES, not just Apps.

The person breaking the new law is deemed to be the U.S. (or offshore) INTERNET HOSTING SERVICE or App Store, not the “foreign adversary.”

If you think this isn’t a Trojan horse and will only apply to TikTok and foreign-adversary social media companies, then contemplate why someone thought it was important to get a very specific exclusion for their internet based business written into the bill:

This law is not just about TikTok, it is about censorship and government control!

If it were just about TikTok, it would only cite “foreign control” as the issue, but it does not.

As I suspected

Completely missed the point, didn't read, or didn't comprehend Massie's point.

What people are missing is that the same criteria that makes TikTok a problem is also present in US companies like Facebook. Once you shut down TikTok, on the grounds of national security and civil rights, you can shutdown Facebook, Google, et al. It's not a leap, it's a small step.

If someone outside the Insurgent Class gets in the White House, all of Silicon Valley can be seized, pretty much.

I am for a tik tok ban that is worded as a tik tok ban

Not one that is worded specifically to allow for censorship

This is how the government works and how you can know they hate you

They take what you want, pitch it as you getting what you want, but word it for more control over you so that you cheer for your own demise

It’s sadistic

Tik tok bans are lazy and amount to nothing but virtue signaling.

I totally get bans in schools and government offices (should ban all social media on public devices)

This country was built on freedom where individuals make choices for their own economic prosperity and individual security.

Instead of making better choices, we want government to force it.

I work in DOD and obviously our work phones are not allowed to have this app and for good reason. But, a wholesale ban on personal phones? I'm definitely not a fan of it.

Right. Its not even a slippery slope, its the government outright picking winners and losers.

Give them one chance to do this and they'll abuse the hell out of it.
