Wednesday last week. Drop off Tissue samples from a biopsy for a lab in California. We were told Friday delivery by 4:30.

Almost a week later ....One excuse after another. One lie after another.

Excuse one: Memphis was backed up all week last week.

Excuse two: There were notices on the doors and the hand carts. Dropped a picture of the front door and the carts parked behind the counter ...No notices. Photo date and time stamped.

Excuse three: We only have one Fed Ex flight leaving Birmingham each day.

OK, Wednesday excused ...there is a flight Thursday, Friday, Saturday and then Monday and today ....

Excuse four: Memphis Airport was closed.

I have the notice in my hand. Memphis closed Friday due to water pressure issues. The passenger terminal only affected. Cargo not affected.

Excuse five: Indianapolis was closed.

Indy was delays of 15 minutes.....nothing closed.

"This is too easy to find and I've laid each sheet of paper on the counter. Where is my package?"

Excuse six: It left on a truck for Memphis this morning.
And when will be in Memphis? It will be there tomorrow.

"It is a four hour drive to Memphis .....is your driver taking this by wagon pulled from donkeys?"

"Any more lies you want to tell me? We could have used UPS, USPS or DHL. Anything except Fed Exp. But you chose to not tell anyone of the delays in Memphis to save revenue and you were told to lie about what was happening. FED Ex will not be used for these shipments again."

It's not like there was some kind of weather event that could lead to this disturbance?

Don't they usually fly the vast majority big time above the weather?

It’s beyond me why both Fed Ex and UPS have main hubs in areas affected by winter weather.

I’d put it in Phoenix, AZ if I was building one. Except the machines may randomly change addresses and tracking numbers. That would probably be more of a pain.

Dude, seriously, all the couriers are screwed up right now. Either from Covid or the recent weather. Don't be surprised when your packages aren't delivered on time and stop giving these people so much hell. They're just like you and me, just trying to get through the day. They don't need anyone coming in and blaming them for something they can't do anything about. Try to be civil and realize shipping anything these days can take a lot longer than it use to. It's the new "normal."

FedEx is an accident waiting to happen. I've had many issues with them lately. What packages aren't damaged, are lost. I think many of them are not lost but stolen by employees

Both are within 2 hours flight time of 90% of the US population. Winter delays are rare.

Really? I believe planes still have to takeoff and land. That’s the choke point.

What exactly does this have to do with politics?

Sent a priority mail envelope last week. 5 days later my envelope made it 20 miles to a USPS regional facility at DFW. Yeah I know weather, etc., but clerk at PO guaranteed arrival in Cali in 3 days-lol!

I feel your pain. Starbucks has been closed even after the ice storm due to citywide 'water boiling recommendation'.
Hell, how do you even make coffee without boiling the water?

Maybe they can start airdropping packages by parachute.

Their main hub in Memphis was out of operation all last week due to the ice storm. Pretty easy to figure that one out with a little research lazy f$ck

This is true, but the planes get grounded for those few minutes they have to be on a runway and it's iced over.

Fed Ex ‘ lost ‘ a my pillow order from December that made it all the way from MN to here in GA.

That’s where the tracking ends, at the distribution center.

Frick them.

Try again ....The only time Memphis was closed was FRIDAY last week. The only time. The reason? Water pressure problems on Friday at the Passenger terminal. The cargo hub was open the entire time. No weather event closed Memphis Airport at any time. The next excuse was Indy closing ...the only event at Indy was fifteen minute delays getting in and out of the airport.

For more than 15 years I flew across this nation every other week. I flew across Canada and Alaska as well. Other than a short flight to Kearney Nebraska from Kansas City...at no time was an airport closed.

My gripe was that Fed Ex did not notify me at the Office in Birmingham. Remember, these samples were crucial to be in California labs by Friday and I assured three times that the package would be there. I had crucial tissue samples that were due in California by Friday last week. When I challenged their fictitious airport closing ...I was offered another lie. Their problem? I had anticipated their crap and was armed with print outs from each airport and each hub.

If they been honest ....UPS, USPS, DHL uses different routes and can deliver next day.

Save the excuse crap for those that seldom fly and have not gone more than decade of being a true road warrior. Just like the miserable performance by the people behind the counter at the Birmingham Offices.

It may cost a little more but there are services that handle these types of shipments that are usually same day/next day for future reference. You also get tracking and packages must be signed for at each checkpoint. If I had something that was time sensitive and crucial, like tissue samples, I'd probably shy away from using the FedEx/UPS/etc shipping services. Just IMO

ETA: This is one example of that company

They are having problems.
I’m over the mailroom of a world wide company. We have 2 shipments going to Singapore that have been sitting in Memphis since the 13th.
It seems that anything local is being delivered as normal but anything out of state/country is being held up.
