Thoughts on Doug Burgum? (Figured we could use a break from the Don/Ron/Vivek chatter)

I forgot all about this guy
He's probably most known for his scheme of sending out gift cards to get individual donors. I hadn't really paid attention but it actually worked and he'll be on the debate stage.
He's in his second term as Governor of North Dakota
I just perused his Wikipedia page out of curiosity which outlines most of his political positions.

Seems like most of his positions would be pretty favorable to most conservatives
Yeah I know he's a dark horse but his background is rather interesting

I like the little I’ve heard from him. Seems like a good and sensible guy. I’d like to hear more. Obviously he won’t win but that’s ok it’s good to hear from smart people.

Seems fine to me.
He just needs the show business side that modern politics requires.

He’s very interesting and I like him. I listened to a podcast with the Ruthless guys (July 27th) and was really impressed with him. Unfortunately, I don’t think he has a chance. I still might vote for him in the primary.

Me neither. But maybe he can trot out some good ideas and possibly find himself a cabinet position in a theoretical republican presidency.

Glad he is in the race and will be interested in seeing how he does in the first couple of debates. If the past is any indication, he might not get the same number of question as the others. Things I like: he has governed as a conservative governor; he took a small accounting software business and turned it into a billion dollar company; and understands technology more than any of the other candidates. As I recall, he came from way behind in his first Gov race and won, then won by a lot in re-election.

Nope. He’s into climate change dogma. He wants to build carbon capture plants, compress it, and inject it underground in North Dakota. That was based on his words in an interview within the last couple of weeks.

What’s wrong with carbon capture?

Nothing as long as the demand is generated by the free market and said free market is willing to pay for it.

I sort of like his background. I kind of got turned off, though, reading up him and seeing he got on board with some of the stupid climate bullshite.

Why do we need to capture it? You can always hold your breath if you feel differently.

The stupid climate stuff is coming at you and you can't stop it. He's trying to devise a way to acknowledge this reality and continue upstream exploration.

Burgum made his fortune before entering politics. I think he’d make a better VP for Trump than a lifelong politician. I imagine he would be a good advisor and hopefully encourage Trump to call the deep state’s bluff. A Trump/Burgum ticket would be good for business and good for this country.

What problem are we trying to solve?
Does manmade emissions of carbon dioxide materially affect the climate? Where’s the proof? Is there data, or just based on computer models?
