Those of u who carry: Good info I received from my 2A attorney, approaching the election

The moments after you have used your gun or other legal weapon are critical. If you do or say the incorrect thing, it may mean the difference between keeping your legal rights and waiving them.
Immediately following a self-defensive shooting:
1. Make sure the threat has been controlled and you are safe.
2. Do not disturb the scene.
3. Call 911.
The only information the 911 dispatcher needs to know is:
- What assistance is needed;
- Your name and the location of the emergency;
- What you look like/are wearing; and
- That you have been the victim of a crime.
Do not make any statements to the dispatcher about what happened (e.g., “I’ve just shot an intruder”).
You do not have to stay on the line with the 911 dispatcher (they’ll ask you to do so).
4. Call your attorney.
5. Comply with all police commands.
- Police do not know who the good guys and bad guys are when they arrive. Comply in a nonthreatening manner with your hands clearly visible and your weapon secure.
- Inform police you have been the victim of a crime.
6. Invoke your legal rights.
In an emergency situation, simply say these words to any law enforcement officer: ”I do not consent to any searches. I am invoking my right to remain silent and my right to an attorney.”
- Make no statement to anyone about the incident.
- Wait to talk to your attorney.
- If asked to accompany law enforcement, comply but make no statements.
- Do not make jokes or cute remarks.
- Do not say anything, even if you believe you have done nothing wrong.
Everyone be safe, and protect yourself and your loved ones.

Just a question so I don't step on my tongue if this ever occurs...What are some examples of each item?
What assistance is needed? What does this mean? That you need police, ambulance etc?
It's an honest question..if I have it right in my head now, I won't say it wrong when it matters.

My CCL class instructor also included a couple suggestions:
You were in fear for your life. You cannot say that enough.
You will gladly cooperate fully and answer all questions but not until your lawyer is present. After shooting someone your mind will not be right. Never say anything else besides "I was in fear for my life" or the like without an attorney present.
He also suggested that when placing the 911 call, request two ambulances. One for the assailant and one for you. The police will want you to come to the station for questioning and there will be bystanders and possibly media when you're taken away and its better for the images to show you leaving in an ambulance to the hospital than a police car. Don't flame me, he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

CCL insurance is a must-have. I have the highest-tier CCW-Safe plan and it runs about $500/yr. Card in my wallet with a 24/7 1-800 number. There are a couple others with slight coverage differences. MANY sites are out there that do line-by-line comparisons.

This is similar to what my CCL instructor told me.

I wouldn't carry without paying for some kind of service. Texas Law Shield is who I have.

I’m a member of an association that provides insurance and legal representation. I have a card I carry in my wallet that has a “script” for what I should do/say, and an 800 number to call after calling 911.

my non legal opinion is that your ccl instructor shouldnt be giving legal advice. The more you talk the more you have a chance of saying something that can be used against you in a highly stressful situation. Nothing you say can or will be used to help you, only hurt you. Say absolutely nothing without an attorney present.
