re: Those for Illegal Immigration, Please Read This

Plenty of good insight in the posts, RR, and many of us are feeling the same economic pressure for various reasons as things change so fast. There is no doubt that opening our borders and flooding the population with desperate people who will work cheap is very problematic. Compassion and empathy nws. And worse, that with no qualifications many of the immigrants are subsidized with resources far above that of even what a hard working honest guy like you could earn in the market. Cartel members get a payout and the inflation kicks in making it even harder on those who work for their pay. IMO, the posters who embrace a Spiritual perspective are spot on. Either we exist in a Spiritual Universe or we don’t. Either we are children of a Loving God and are destined towards eternal life, or it’s one and done with nothing mattering as all ceases to be. The hard stuff will make us into stronger and wiser people. Good luck and God speed to you and yours.

You couldnt find a job at a private or university lab? They dont pay much but those jobs are out there.

In south texas, annually my 7 palm trees needed leaf trimming. I learned that white guys trying to do the job would show up with very poor tools. Mexicans show up and get the job done
I've had a different experience the times I've hired Latin workers to do lawn, roofing and other projects.
For my lawn:
It was very expensive and after the dad (owner of the business) left my lawn up to his son, the service was worse, and he was unreliable.
Roof:
I had to call them multiple times to come out and get the work completed.
Bathroom remodel:
Took much, much longer than needed. I had to threaten to fire them and get someone else about halfway through.
Home addition:
Was hiring a Latin company that we agreed to the price and the work he would do. He never showed up. I called him and he told me he would be there "tomorrow". Tomorrow turned into a week and then he stopped answering my texts and calls. I hired a local guy who came and completed the job within a couple of weeks for less money.

All Who Replied:
Thank you for your kindness and God Bless.
To those who took issue with it, please understand my point of taking the time to write it. This wasn’t meant to garner attention or gain empathy. I am very blessed and fortunate and for all the bad, there is a lot more good. My point is that are others exactly like me that would readily do this work. I know this because I see them out trying to hustle work as well.
There is a finite amount of work. The narrative out there is that Americans don’t want these jobs. That is complete and utter BS. Mass deportation would do two things:
1) Create work opportunities for US citizens like me by filling the void
2) Cause employers to hire American citizens to do the jobs illegals currently perform
I understand that the 2nd thing would have some negative consequences such as increasing labor costs and possibly decreasing work output in the short term. In the long term, it would create a level playing field for all businesses if no one could hire illegals.
The lower/middle class American citizen would be the winner from mass deportation. There would be possibly millions of American jobs available. The end consumer may pay slightly more as the market corrected itself but in my opinion, the positives far outweigh the negatives. Companies will do what it takes to compete for business or they lose that business.
Again, thanks. I’m no expert and I could be wrong on everything I said. What I do know is Americans like me will gladly perform the work illegals currently do.

I was in the industrial services field for over 20 years. It was something specialized enough to where if I dared to post it, there are way too many people who post here that could figure out who I am. After posting all that, I’d prefer to be unknown.
Baton Rouge has plenty of my work specialty so there wouldn’t be anywhere I could move with better opportunity.
It goes like this every time I apply for a job:
-I hand them my resume & briefly explain my background and what I offer
-Employer: “You are overqualified for what we could offer you”
-Me: “I would be willing to start at the very bottom and do any manual labor necessary”
-Employer: “I’m sorry, we don’t have any of those jobs available right now”
Maybe I just haven’t gotten in front of the right person at the right company. I think everything happens for a reason, so maybe a further tenure in that line of business just wasn’t meant to be.

drug companies love a biology back ground and reps make great money.

I don’t know of him. I’ve never been fired or let go or unemployed except that time. I am literally happy to shovel horse manure in some stables I work at occasionally. I love to work. The reason I no longer have the job is due to client bankruptcies who owed over a million.

Although my bank account isn’t always in the positive, I am able to provide for my family. I don’t need government assistance. I know people less fortunate who do. In the event I was disabled, I would then consider it an option.

Well then, just sit your happy arse on the rented sofa until those unemployment checks run out.
You'll eventually figure it out.

You have a 10x better work ethic than most here.
They sit around waiting for Govt to solve their problems.

I am onboard with his mentality on this. I was fortunate to never be in his predicament, but I'd have worked myself into a grave doing menial tasks for scraps before ever taking unemployment.

So what's the hold up? WIth a 3.5 in biology unless you are keeping yourself outside of places where you would be marketable someone should have bitten.
Strange that you are having trouble on the other front as well. I know of 2 guys in their late 20's who got laid off, invested in a pressure washer and are making close to 3000+ a week right now and they "moonlight" doing handyman work for some property managers who have houses in both BR and StTammany. They have no problem competing with immigrants. They'll also detail cars and RVs....they'll do a car for 40.00 if they have time on a Saturday. RVs about 500 -759

Do you think they'd be even more financially successful if they didn't have illegals to compete with?

Work as an Adjunct professor at a community college while getting your Masters and teaching cert. Community Colleges in Texas pay six figures without a PhD

They don't lack for work and you have to book them about 2 weeks in advance. They aren't complaining about money. If that is what you are asking.
Like the immigrant labor, they show up when they say they are going to show up. They do the job they say they are going to do for the amount they agreed on.
